Well, as for EMP, this is probably why the unit cost is so expensive. Most of what this scope can do is well within the reach of a low end smartphone and a laser rangefinder which together can be found for less than 200 bucks. Add that together, with hardware that will run from the arctic winter to the Arabian desert summer, resist EMP, be thrown around inside a non air conditioned APC, being driven full speed during an Arabian desert summer, dropped into lakes, and still work accurately out to 800 metres, and with mil spec components that each need to be tested and certified, that's what you are buying into. I would expect to see Chinese knock offs for about 500 bucks or less coming onto the market... but you will need to talk to them nice, buy them dinner and don't look at them strange just in the hope they don't let out the magic smoke in 6 months!
