How to FIND and SHARE Daily Bulletin Articles

Accurateshooter daily bulletin search find storyDaily Bulletin readers often tell us: “I saw a story in the Bulletin a while back, but I can’t find it now. How do I locate it?” In addition, some folks say: “There’s a Bulletin article that I want to share on my Facebook page. How do I do that?”

How to Use Search Features
Take heart, readers. There are quick and easy ways to locate (and share) Daily Bulletin Posts. First, on the right side of the Bulletin you can select stories by topic (e.g. Reloading) or by date. You can also use our SEARCH TOOL. Go to the top right-hand corner of the page, type your search term then click the RED SEARCH BUTTON. This will instantly search over 5,000 Daily Bulletin stories. Matching articles will appear in chronological order, with the newest articles at the top. For best results, try to be pretty specific in your search, and avoid common terms such as “bullet”, “rifle”, “barrel” etc. that may appear in hundreds of articles.

How to Share Daily Bulletin Articles on Facebook, Twitter, and Other Sites
Let’s say you’ve found an interesting article or gear review in the Daily Bulletin that you would like to share on your Facebook page or other social media sites. Or maybe you’d like to email the article URL (web address) to a shooting buddy so he could read the story too. It’s easy to share a story. Simply click on the small RED-ORANGE BOX at the end of the article marked “Share”. This will open up a small window with multiple choices. With your mouse, select “Facebook” to share on your Facebook page. Or, click the “email” or “gmail” icons to email the article’s web URL to your friends.

If you merely want to save the article URL (i.e. its web location), right click on the “Permalink” button at the bottom left of the article frame (look for the dark blue-gray border). When you right click, you’ll see a pull-down menu. Select “Copy Link Address”. Then you can paste this link anywhere you like, using the paste command (CTRL-P on a Windows computer).

Bartlein Delivers Precious Metals to NorCal Rifle Club

Norcal NPPRC Bartlein BarrelsNeed a premium cut-rifled barrel? Be prepared to wait six months or more. However, if you were a member of the NorCal Practical Precision Rifle Club (NCPPRC) you’d be sitting pretty right now. After receiving a boatload of new Bartleins (31 by our count), NPPRC’s Vu Pham announced on Facebook: “Our first batch of Bartlein Barrels has arrived!! This is less than 1/3 of our 2013 Club order!”

That’s an impressive supply of precious metal to be sure. Are those Bartleins worth their weight in gold? Not quite, but Vu and crew definitely have reason to celebrate. We hope all the folks at NCPPRC shoot lots of good scores with all those pretty new tubes. Yes, you could say we have “barrel envy” now.

Hodgdon Powder Launches Informative Facebook Page

Hodgdon Powder Company, Inc. launched a Facebook Page earlier this month. The new page, launched September 10, gives Hodgdon customers an outlet to discuss reloading, hunting, target shooting and other powder-related topics. “We envision this page as a community for our friends, fans, and experts to get together and talk shop. If you have a question, a great hunting story to tell, or just want to brag about a nice tight group this is the place for you”, said Chris Hodgdon, the company’s Public Relations Manager. “While so much of handloading is in the data and details, we also know there’s a huge social component to it as well.”

Hodgdon Facebook page

We’re pleased to see that Hodgdon’s Facebook page is regularly updated. Much to our amazement, Chris Hodgdon himself is answering user reloading and product questions. How many companies let you communicate directly with a top company decision-maker?

New Content Daily
Unlike some companies that roll out a Facebook page with much hooplah but then let it languish, Hodgdon has been adding new, interesting content daily, including cartridge histories, product release info, hunting stories, and even match reports. Just today, Hodgdon posted an informational diagram for the .30-06 cartridge:

Facebook Facelift for AccurateShooter.com

AccurateShooter.com Facebook LikeAccurateShooter.com’s Facebook Page has a new look. Our posts and shared links are now organized in a two-column “time-line” format. This new look is part of the Facebook layout update that went into effect this weekend. It may seem a little confusing at first because content now alternates between left column and right column. But you’ll still find the newest stuff at the top, and the older entries at the bottom. Just shift left to right as you read the posts in timeline order from top to bottom. You can still comment on our Facebook entries, or share our posts on your own Facebook “Wall”. If you enjoy what you find on our page, be sure to click the “Like” button, located at the lower RIGHT corner of the header photo. This helps us deliver our content to more Facebook users.

The Rifle on our New Facebook Page Header
We have also added a bold new Facebook header that lets you know that you have arrived at the right place. Up top is a beautiful rifle originally built by Richard Franklin for Forum member Barry O. (aka “TheBlueEyedBear”). This rifle, chambered in 6mm Super LR (a shortened .243 Win Wildcat), features a BAT SV Action, Bartlein 5R barrel, and a handsome walnut LowRider stock. The LowRider is a Richard Franklin design, now produced by Shurley Brothers Custom Rifles. The Shurley Brothers’ operation has been licensed by Richard Franklin to produce his popular hunting, varmint, and long-range stock designs. As did Franklin, Shurley Brothers offers a wide range of wood options, from Rutland laminates to deluxe fancy woods such as: Curly Maple, Cherry, Myrtle-wood, Bastogne Walnut, and Turkish Walnut. If you want a laminate of fancy woods, such as a Maple and Walnut combo, Shurley Brothers can also build that.

Gunway.com Debuts — New Social Network for Shooters

Gunway.com, an online social network site designed to share information about firearms and outdoor activities, was launched on November 14, 2011. “Gunway represents a radical shift,” says Gunway’s CEO, Charlie Pratt. “We set out to create a world-class niche network that raises the levels of information and functionality.” Gunway’s beta release is built on two core features: People & Questions. Users create their own profiles – public or private – to share photos, links, and information. The Questions feature allows them to post questions and receive answers from anyone.

“The major networks have grown too large, intrusive, and overwhelming,” says Pratt. “We envisioned something that requires much less information from its users and has a clear purpose.”

Gunway.com Social Network

Editor’s Comment: We always welcome new additions to the online firearms community. However, with hundreds of firearms Blogs and Forums already in existence, we’re not quite sure what Gunway.com brings to the table. Questions about specific firearms, hunting gear, and reloading methods are best addressed to special interest Forums such as SavageShooters.com, LongRangeHunting.com, and the AccurateShooter.com Forum. If people need to find a range, there are existing resources such as WhereToShoot.org. Still, it will be interesting to see how Gunway.com evolves. Hopefully, as its membership grows, Gunway.com will become a useful resource for gun owners and sportsmen.
