The King of 2 Miles (KO2M) event has gone global. This past weekend, in France, talented long-range marksmen competed at the first-ever Euro version of K02M. The King of 2 Miles in France was conducted April 20-22, 2019 at Camp de Canjuers, a French military zone in Southern France, west of the city of Nice.
The Finals targets were placed at 2657, 3038, and 3576 yards. The longest distance is a bit more than two statute miles (2.0318 miles to be precise), so this was a genuine two-mile competition. During the Finals, conditions were extremely tough, with heavy winds. Hitting the Finals first target (at 2657 yards) on a cold bore proved impossible for most of the shooters. But French shooter (and new King) Bruno Put prevailed, scoring two hits at 2657, and one each at 3038 and 3576.

Frenchman Bruno Put Wins K02M France
Hail to the King! We congratulate Bruno Put, the new King of 2 Miles in France. Bruno dominated the Finals, scoring hits at all three distances to finish with 25,368 points. He got two hits at 2657 and one each at 3038 and 3576. We are told Bruno was shooting a .375 Snipe-Tac rifle with Warner 361gr Flatline bullets in Peterson brass (according to sources). Conditions were challenging and Bruno was the only finals competitor to score hits at 3038 yards and 3576 yards. Paul Phillips got one hit at 2657 yards, but no other competitor (except Bruno) managed ANY hits in the Finals. K02M founder Eduardo reported: “We had very difficult conditions with fish-tailing winds that complicated hugely the shooting. But even in these conditions Bruno Put was able to reach the 2 miles target.”

For those who’ve attended the North American K02M at Raton, New Mexico, there was a familiar face in France — Paul Phillips of the Global Precision Group and Team Applied Ballistics. Paul finished second overall, with a Finals score of 19,954 points.
Paul was shooting on the three-man Team BCM squad with two Italians, Gian Molina, and Gianfranco Zanoni. The trio did great in the prelims, placing first (Molina), third (Phillips), and fifth (Zanoni). All three team members made the Finals — a very impressive collective performance. Their final places were Phillips 2nd overall, Molina 3rd, and Zanoni 6th.
Paul reported: “After a long day of shooting, the top ten qualifiers [moved on to] the Finals. Due to inclement weather rolling in, [match directors held] all qualifiers in one day. The wind was pretty much a tail wind all day which benefited the faster shooters greatly.”

Last month, Forum member Corbin Shell set a new Extreme Long Range (ELR) record. With no sighters or warm-up shots, Corbin put three (3) shots on a 36″ x 36″ steel plate at 2118 yards, establishing a new Cold Bore ELR World Record. The range was verified with three rangefinders and witnessed by 20+ awestruck shooters. Applied Ballistics reports: “There is a new official ELR World Record. 2118 yards. 3 for 3 cold bore.” This was also recognized as a record by the FCSA (Fifty Caliber Shooting Association).*
This record was set at the ELR Southeast Shootout held at the Arena Training Facility in Blakely, Georgia, on March 2, 2019. The World Record attempt was made in compliance with all ELR Central Rules.

Conditions During Record:
Corbin tells us: “This was shot in Blakely, Georgia at the Arena Training Facility in good Ole dense Southern air. Here are the atmospheric conditions when I shot: 70 degree temperature, 29.70-29.80 inches of mercury, 82% humidity, 1211 Density Altitude (DA).”
Corbin noted that the unique barrel block with rail helps with ELR Optics: “This custom-made barrel block is drilled length wise to reduce weight. It incorporates an integral Picatinny rail which… facilitates mounting of … the Tacom Charlie/Delta TARAC prism system, without the need to bridge mount.” Charlie/Delta TARAC units effectively offset the view that comes into the scope, providing up to 625 MOA elevation.

* Prior to Corbin Shell’s GA record, David Tubb shot a 2200-yard, 3-shot group that has been recognized as a FCSA record. Applied Ballistics .338 EnABELR and .375 EnABELR Cartridges Applied Ballistics Weapons Division (ABWD) has announced the release of the new EnABELR cartridge. The EnABELR is a medium-capacity, magazine-feedable cartridge available in both .338 and .375 calibers. As you can see from this chart, when using the new Berger solid .375-cal bullets, the .375 EnABELR shows less drop at 2500 meters than the .338 Lapua Magnum and .375 CheyTac (with 400gr CE bullets).

Glock has hired Chuck Norris. We kid you not. And, no, this isn’t an April Fools joke. Austrian pistol-maker Glock has hired tough-guy actor Chuck Norris as a spokesman. His first appearance for Glock will be at the NRA Convention in Indianapolis, IN on April 26-27. We expect there will be a huge line at the Glock booth, with show visitors hoping to meet Chuck and get his autograph. Now 79 years old, Chuck Norris served in the U.S. Air Force and then became a champion martial artist, actor, film producer, and philanthropist.
While we like Chuck Norris, and we appreciate his commitment to the Second Amendment, we wonder about this kind of endorsement. Will this really sell more Glocks? The Austrian company faces stiff competition these days from Smith & Wesson, SIG Sauer, Ruger, Walther, and even Taurus. Glock might be better off putting the Chuck Norris endorsement budget back into engineering.

BREAKING NEWS 4/4/2019: The decision holding California’s ban on full-capacity magazines to be unconstitutional still stands. However Federal Judge Benitez has issued a stay on sales of full-capacity magazines in California, pending appeal. This STAY ORDER goes into effect April 5, 2019 at 5:00 pm. This will temporarily halt sales of magazines with 10+ round capacity, while his decision is under appeal. Those who ordered these magazines over the past few days will be able to take possession, but the doors are shut again for the time being.TEXT of STAY ORDER.
Full-capacity magazines are legal again in California. This is big news for the Golden State, where sales of magazines holding more than 10 rounds have been banned for nearly two decades. Why the change — why can Californians buy 20- and 30-rounders again? The answer is that the California mag ban was ruled unconstitutional by a Federal Judge on March 29, 2019.
In the Duncan v. Becerra case, Federal District Court Judge Roger Benitez ruled that the California laws banning full-capacity magazines were invalid under the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Judge Benitez wrote “Individual liberty and freedom are not outmoded concepts,” and declared unconstitutional California’s restrictions on magazines holding more than 10 rounds. As background, California has prohibited sales of full-capacity magazines since 2000. But citizens who owned mags with 10+ capacity were allowed to keep them — until recently. A new law required magazine owners to destroy or surrender their magazines. This prompted a new NRA lawsuit which resulted in the ruling by Federal Judge Benitez.
California’s State Attorney General will appeal Judge Benitez’s decision to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, known for its left-leaning bias. But in the meantime, the doors are open. Full-capacity magazines are now legal to purchase and own in California.
According to ABC News in Fresno, CA: “Ammunition stores are eagerly welcoming back California customers after the state’s nearly twenty-year ban on high-capacity magazines. The ruling has prompted a massive shipment of high-capacity magazines to California.” And yes, Californians can now buy full-capacity mags from online vendors. 7.6 Creedmoor factory-loaded ammunition will be available from all major USA ammo-makers including Federal, Hornady, CCI, and Remington. As well, foreign ammo-makers Hirtenberger, Sellier & Bellot, and Prvi Partizan have pledged to produce 7.6 Creedmoor ammunition. That’s good news for shooters who want affordable Creedmoor ammo.
