Literally hundreds of new rifle designs were displayed at SHOT Show 2024. Here are eight notable new (or recently introduced) rifles that were spotlighted in SHOT Daily magazine. We have seen trends to more modular rifles in recent years. And multiple rifle-makers are now offering very lightweight rigs for hunters.
The innovative Benelli Lupo HPR rifle boast an impressive sub-MOA, FIVE-shot factory accuracy guarantee. The new Lupo HPR combines a custom-fitment stock system with a heavy-contour, straight-fluted CRYO barrel. Many popular chamberings are offered: 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, .308 Win, .300 PRC, .300 WinMag, and .338 Lapua Magnum. Benelli says the Lupo HPR “incorporates the function of a chassis rifle with the handling grace and accuracy of a custom bolt-action.” CLICK HERE for image with Lupo HPR details.
The Savage 110 Ultralight Elite is a modern very light rig designed for the higher-end hunting market. Offered in multiple chamberings, the 110 Elite features a carbon-wrapped 18″ or 20″ Proof Research barrel and skeletonized carbon composite stock. The whole rig (before optics) runs just 5.8 to 6 pounds — very lightweight. The weight savings are nice, but the $3299.00 MSRP makes this a pretty pricey Savage. Chamberings are: 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, 7mm PRC, .308 Win, .300 WSM, and .300 WinMag. This rifle is review in the Backfire Video below at the 19:14 time-mark.
Bergara B-14 Crest rifles are offered with two models for backcountry hunters. This 100% carbon monocoque fiber stock is designed with industry-leading technologies. The Squared Crest rifle comes with a detachable 5-round AICS compatible magazine. A wide selection of chamberings are offered: .22-250 Rem, 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, 7 PRC, .308 Win, 300 Win Mag.
The Rock River Arms XM24 is offered in .308 Win and .338 Lapua Magnum. Priced at a hefty $5295.00, this features a non-folding MDT ESS chassis and 26″ cryo-treated barrel. The .338 LM version would be a decent out-of-the box choice for ELR shooting.
The Browning X-Bolt Ovix rifle features a Cerakoted barreled action (with brake) fitted in a handsome camo stock. The modern DLX trigger offers a crisp break and adjusts down to 3 pounds. The Veri-Tech stock, finished in Ovix camo pattern, has a unique modular grip design. This allows the sporter grip (as shown) to be swapped with a more vertical-style grip.
The CVA Cascade Long Range Hunter rifles feature 22″ or 24″ barrels with muzzle brake. Both action and barrel have a handsome tan Cerakote finish. The stocks have an adjustable cheekpiece plus a “soft touch” finish. A wide range of chamberings are offered: 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, 7mm Mag, 7 PRC, .308 Win, .300 PRC, and .300 Win Magnum. Prices start at $925.00 MSRP.
The Primary Weapons Systems UXR is an innovative, multi-caliber tactical rifle. The unique UXR (User Xchange Rifle) allows users to quickly switch chamberings by exchanging just three parts: barrel, magwell, and bolt head. Initially available in 5.56×45 and .300 BLK variations, the UXR platform will also be available in .308 Win and 8.6 BLK configurations later this year.
The new Springfield Armory Model 2020 Redline is lightweight, custom-grade hunting rifle currently available in 6.5 Creedmoor and .308 Win. Featuring a minimalist Grayboe Trekker stock and outfitted with a 16″ or 20″ carbon-wrapped barrel, the Redline is suppressor-ready and carries a .75 MOA guarantee.

Howa SUPER LITE — Hunting Rifle Weighs Just 4 lbs. 7 Ounces
“Light is right” — that seems to be the trend in the current generation of hunting rifles. For those long treks in search of game, hunters prefer a light-weight rifle. Now with carbon composite stocks and other weight-savings measures, we are seeing rifles that are one-third lighter than typical hunting rifles of the past. For 2022 Legacy Sports Int’l unveiled the new Howa SUPER LITE Series of rifles. These rigs tip the scales, without optics, at a mere 4 pounds, 7 ounces. Yes, well under five pounds! That’s impressive for a sub-MOA accurate, reliable rifle with a $1399.00 MSRP. The new Howa SUPER LITE features a new action that is larger than a Howa Mini Action but smaller and lighter than a standard short action. The Howa SUPER LITE will be initially offered in 6.5 Creedmoor and .308 Winchester in Stocky’s Carbon Fiber stocks with choice of Kryptek Altitude or Obskura camo patterns. Measuring 39″ overall, the SUPER LITE comes with the nice HACT 2-stage trigger, Picatinny rail, and flush-fit detachable magazine.

Although the 2021 SHOT Show was cancelled, you can find many new-for-2021 products online. The NRA’s Shooting Illustrated website has put together a collection of 28 new products including rifles, pistols, shotguns, optics, safety gear and more — all from top manufacturers. Some of the features include test videos, such as a report on a S&W M&P fitted with the new Leupold DeltaPoint Micro red dot optic.
The Shooting Illustrated article reviews 28 products total. Here are two rifles, two pistols, and one shotgun featured in Shooting Illustrated’s New Products Showcase:
Winchester Wildcat .22 LR SR, Suppressor-Ready Model
Winchester has introduced a Wildcat SR, a suppressor-ready version of its popuplar Wildcat 22 semi-auto .22 LR rifle. This new Wildcat SR comes with a 16.5″ barrel threaded 1/2-28 TPI at the muzzle (with muzzle cap). This will allow the Wildcat SR to fit most rimfire suppressors as well as many muzzle brakes. Shooting Illustrated liked the general features of the Wildcat SR: “The rifle… has a rugged polymer upper assembly, lower receiver assembly and ambidextrous skeletonized buttstock for light weight and strength. The rear sight is adjustable for both elevation and windage and there is also a ramped post front sight.” We are pleased to see that the Winchester Wildcat SR boasts an integral Picatinny Rail for mounting optics.
Browning X-Bolt Mountain Pro Carbon
We like the Browning X-Bolt rifles. Browning offers good protective coatings on the barreled actions, and the camo treatments are nicely done. For 2021, Browning has a new line of X-Bolt Mountain Pro rifles. These include a new-generation carbon fiber stock that is even lighter, with noise-dampening foam for added comfort. The X-Bolt Mountain Pros also come with a Recoil Hawg muzzle brake that Browning says can reduce felt recoil by as much as 73%. The stainless steel action and barrel come with a protective Cerakote Burnt Bronze or Tungsten finish. And internally the barrel boasts a “proprietary lapping process” for easier cleaning and quicker break-in times. For that custom touch, the bolt and bolt knob are spiral fluted. These new X-Bolt Mountain Pros are not inexpensive. Browning lists an MSRP of $2,399.99 – $2,459.99. Expect “street price” around $2000.00.
Savage Renegauge Competition 12ga Shotgun
Here’s an impressive new 12 gauge shotgun from Savage. This boast an extended magazine tube that holds 9+1 rounds. The looks are notable, with Red Cerakote on the Receiver and mag tube, with a black melonited fluted barrel with ventilated ridb and HI-VIZ front site. The stock adjusts for LOP, comb height, drop and cast and there is a rod recoil buffer in the buttstock. Shooting Illustrated notes that the Savage has an advanced gas system: “The Savage Renegauge Competition shotgun features the DRIV gas system (Dual Regulating Inline Valve) gas system which ensures excess gas vents before it drives the bolt, resulting in consistent ejection, less felt recoil, and a … fast cyclic rate[.]”
Volquartsen Black Mamba-X .22 LR Pistol
Volquartsen has released its new Black Mamba-X pistol for .22 LR competitors in speed matches. This features a Volquartsen’s LLV-4X 4.5-inch Competition Upper with integral universal red-dot mount. The Black Mamba-X features a push-button takedown configuration. Other standard features include: A ½x28 threaded stainless steel, 4.5″ barrel, Volquartsen Accurizing Kit allowing 2.25-pound trigger pull.
FN America FN 509 LS Edge
This new FN 509 LS Edge pistol has a longer slide with cut-outs, aggressive checkering, and good controls. Shooting Illustrated notes the benefits of FN’s smart signt attachment design: “The real key to the FN 509 LS Edge is the sighting system. It has a high front sight with a green fiber-optic insert and serrated front blade to reduce glare. The rear sight is a deep trough.” This patented rear sight design allows a very low red dot position, which gets “the sight real low in the slide and helps it co-witness perfectly with the iron sights.” Various inserts are available for many types of pistol optics.

Battle Arms 3.8-Lb Titanium AR — World’s Lightest AR
If you are a fan of light-weight rifles, watch this video! It features the
Battle Arms GEN 2 O.I.P. AR that weighs just 3.8 pounds. To save weight, this carbine features a carbon fiber handguard and various titanium parts including a Titanium muzzle brake. Look carefully at how even small controls have been modified to save ounces. GunsAmerica reports: “Battle Arms has done a lot of work to find all the ounces that can be spared to make this gun as light as possible.” Even at just 3.8 pounds, the gun is very controllable during rapid fire. Despite a steep $3299.00 MSRP, the first run of Battle Arms’ sub-4-lb GEN 2 O.I.P. is sold out. That proves that “light is right”, as least in the AR carbine market. Read Titanium AR Review HERE.
Seekins Precision — Complete Rifles and Actions
Seekins Precision showcased some impressive custom actions plus complete rifles for both tactical competitors and long range hunters. We were impressed with the build quality of the Seekins precision rifles. We liked the new Seekins Havak Bravo, and the Seekins action has some interesting features, such as four locking lugs with 90° bolt throw. Full Seekins Havak Bravo Review.
CZ 457 Precision Rimfire Rifle
Many top PRS and NRL shooters train with .22 LR rimfire rigs between matches. Rimfire cross-training lets you hone your skills at much lower cost — ten cents per round vs. seventy cents. Shooting rimfire also helps improve your wind-reading skills, as even a small wind change will move a .22 LR bullet noticeably at 100 yards. This video features the new CZ 457, which replaces CZ’s popular 455 series. Along with the Manners-stocked Varmint Precision Trainer variant featured in the video, the CZ 457 is offered in a variety of configurations in .22 LR, .17 HMR, and .22 WMR. MSRP starts at $365 and goes up from there. For more information visit CZUSA.com.
Ruger Precision Rimfire Goes Magnum — With Doug Koenig
The versatile Ruger Precision Rimfire has been a big success as a .22 LR. And now for 2019, it is also offered in a magnum version for .17 HMR and .22 WMR. Varminters should be happy about that. For Ruger Precision Rifle owners, this rimfire version offers ergonomics just like their centerfire rig. The chassis-style rimfire rifle has some very interesting features, including adjustable bolt throw that lets shooters change from a rimfire 1.5″ bolt throw to a short-action centerfire 3″ bolt throw, reducing the chance of short-stroking your bolt in competition. The Ruger Marksman trigger adjusts from 2.25 to 5.0 pounds.
Browning X-Bolt Max Long Range
Browning showcased a very nice bolt-action rifle during Industry Day at the Range. The New X-Bolt Max Long Range features a handsome composite stock, with adjustable cheek-piece and straight toe in the rear for riding bags. The fluted 26″ barrel is threaded for suppressors or brakes. GunsAmerica’s tester reports: “The Max Long Range was a joy to shoot, the trigger was light and crisp, and it cycled easily due to the extended bolt handle. At 8 pounds, 3 ounces without scope or ammo, it isn’t too heavy. The stainless steel barrel matched with the black and grey splatter on the stock gives it a sharp-looking appearance as well.” MSRP is $1269 – $1329 with 11 chambering options from 6mm Creedmoor up to .300 Win Magnum.
