SSSF FOUNDATION DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
The SSSF Foundation Director should provide executive leadership that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors. The Foundation and the Programs have collective revenues exceeding $4 million and 17 employees dispersed across the United States with corporate headquarters based in San Antonio, Texas. A successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Foundation and ensure its overall successful long-term operations and mission success. The Foundation Director will interface regularly with the National Directors of programs.

A successful candidate will manage foundation staff, overseeing human resources, staff development, performance management, compensation, and benefits. The individual will have overall administrative management responsibility for the Foundation and two administrative direct reports. The Foundation Director will work alongside two National Directors and will help administer SCTP and SASP programs.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates should have experience in nonprofit, foundation, government, academic, or other complimentary industry positions. Here is a partial list of the stated qualifications for the position:

— 7-10 years serving in a significant strategic nonprofit role is desired or a Masters Degree is preferred in any of the following fields: business administration, nonprofit management, finance, marketing, and communications.

— Five years of prior experience as a senior or executive leader with an emphasis in operations, finance, and people management.

— Strong business and financial acumen to work with auditing firms for annual audits and 990 prep and a history of providing visionary leadership at a senior level.

— Proven experience working with and leading a nonprofit Board and working with diverse groups of people including board members, employees, and donors.

SSSF College Scholarships for HS Senior Shooting Sports Athletes

SSSF to Award $1,000 and $500 Scholarships To High School Senior Athletes
The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF), is offering financial awards to deserving, graduating High School seniors in the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) and Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP). The main objective is to award as many scholarships as possible to qualifying SCTP/SASP graduating seniors. This is a one-time, non-renewable scholarship for college tuition.

NOTE: Application Deadline (for the entire application packet) is Midnight, April 19th, 2020. All materials must be received together as one packet by deadline — No Exceptions!

Since 2013, the SSSF has awarded over $450,000 in scholarship funds benefiting over 450 student-athletes in the Scholastic Clay Target and Scholastic Action Shooting programs. In 2019, the Scholarship Program awarded over $100,000 to qualifying applicants in $500 or $1,000 amounts.

Applicants must be a current and paid member of the SCTP or SASP national organization at the time of application submission and a graduating senior within the year of the awarded scholarship. Awardees must be registered for college before the scholarship is awarded.

Program Requirements for NSSF Scholarship:

Shooting Sports Athlete — Applicants must have participated during 2019-2020 in one of their SCTP / SASP State Championships, National Championships, or regional events in Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays, Olympic Bunker, Olympic Skeet Championships, Pistol, or Rifle.

Good Academic Standing — Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative Grade Point Average through the most recent grading period ending on or before April 1, 2020.

Pursuing Full-time College Education — Each prospective recipient must be registered as a full-time college student before the scholarship is awarded.

Needs-Based Eligibility — Applicants may not already have secured any “full” scholarship support (e.g. athletics, military academy, academic, etc.).

Big Bucks for Young Competitive Shooters

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF), through the Scholastic Clay Target Program and Scholastic Action Shooting Program, awarded 126 youth athletes over $100,000.00 in college Scholarships for this upcoming academic year. The funds were awarded to qualifying applicants. In addition, some young competitors received special sponsor scholarship checks at the 2019 National Championships in Marengo, Ohio last month (see below). CLICK HERE for all scholarship winners.

National Director Tom Wondrash noted, “this is the first time our combined programs were able to award our Youth Athletes and their families over $100,000 in college scholarships. We could not have done it without the generous support of our program sponsors who continue to step up and support this initiative”.

In addition to the scholarships awarded to SCTP and SASP youth athletes who apply for these awards, at this year’s National Championships special scholarships were awarded by Browning, Beretta, and Blaser USA. In order to be eligible, athletes must have shot a Browning shotgun in 16-yard singles trap, a Beretta shotgun in the skeet event, or a Blaser shotgun in the sporting clays event.

Potterfields Give $900K to Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation

Larry and Brenda Potterfield of MidwayUSA, Inc. recently donated $900,000 to the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) to support youth shooting programs. This latest donation augments the $1,600,000 the Potterfields donated in November 2010, making a total of $2.5 Million given to the SSSF in the past two years. Last year, the Potterfields also donated $1 million to the National Wild Turkey Foundation (NWTF) to support youth shooting programs.

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) is an educational-athletic organization that exists to introduce school-age youths to the clay target sports and to facilitate their continued involvement by providing, promoting, and perpetuating opportunities to safely and enjoyably participate and compete in a high-quality, team-based sport led by trained adult coaches focused on enhancing the personal growth and development of their athletes.
