Great Father’s Day Gift: Custom Hitch Covers by John Niemi

Forum member John Niemi crafts custom hitch covers that look like the end of a cartridge case, complete with head-stamp. Costing $70.50 (delivered), they are made out of solid brass with a stainless steel “primer”. The diameter of the brass is 4 inches and the engraved letters are about half an inch tall. The section that slides over the trailer hitch is aluminum, so you don’t have to worry about rust.

The “headstamp” can include your favorite cartridge-maker and caliber (wildcats too!), or you can include the name of your business. John tells us: “I can engrave any text on one as long as there is enough room for it. Turn around time is usually less then a week after payment. I have a 5″ shell casing that was fired by the USS Cole when deployed to the Middle East in support of our Terrorism efforts. I’m contemplating cutting off most of the shell casing and using the base of the casing as the hitch cover. Do you have the ability to weld/attach the base of the casing to a hitch cover perhaps adding engraving commemorating “Enduring Freedom”. Would be interested in details if this is something you think you can handle.

i bought one of these hitch covers for my husband last father’s day. i had it engraved with our gun store name. he absolutely LOVED it so much he didn’t even put it on his truck..it is hanging in our store on the wall with the AR’s. this hitch cover is high quality work for a great price. john should be charging more for them. i would pay it!
