Family Guns TV Series Debuts on National Geographic Channel
Series Premieres 9/12/2012 at 10:00 pm
The National Geographic Channel is launching a new TV series about a father and son business, International Military Antiques, that specializes in antique and historical arms. Nat Geo’s new show, Family Guns, has solid production values, and the stars of Family Guns are more reputable than the clowns featured on some other gun-oriented cable TV series. Family Guns airs Wednesday Nights at 10:00 pm on the Nat Geo Channel. Tonight’s debut episode features 1920s-era Tommy Guns and two rare, mint condition World War II sniper rifles.
An international authority on antique weapons, Christian Cranmer first started collecting military antiques at the age of twelve. In the 1970s he began dealing antiques and traveled around the world collecting weapons from government arsenals that were being emptied. He established a reputation as having unrivaled knowledge of military history and antique arms.
In 1969 Cranmer heard about a mythical cache in Nepal. It would take over 30 years, but he would find this stockpile and make the greatest purchase of military antiques in his career. The amazing purchase amounted to over 55,000 firearms, with over 50,000 of them antique—Including 146 bronze cannons, a huge array of edged weapons, musket balls and parts. By 2000, Cranmer had purchased from countries from every corner of the world, and his company, International Military Antiques, had supplied military equipment for films including “Saving Private Ryan”, “Flags of Our Fathers”, “Cold Mountain” and “Inglourious Basterds.” See IMA’s inventory at www.ima-usa.com.

Safety glass`s a must
GONNA BE AWESOME! i know i will like the show because the first gun is an original Chicago Typewriter Thompson! Best gun in the world besides the AK and AR platforms!
GO USA!!
Lets hope it’s not as bad as the 2 shows that are on Discovery channel now.
What shows are you talking about Eric? Sons of Guns and American Guns? The first is right around the corner from my place or work and I’ve met the supposed owner Will and lets just say if you think he is a prick on TV wait till you meet him in person. I have shot with Joe from the show before and he is a bright guy which leaves me wondering why he is there to begin with. As for American guns, do people in Colorado really overpay that much for guns all the time? I get sticked shock just watching that show and the “upgrade” packages they offer that triple the price it seems.
Finally a show gun aficionados can watch without having to turn off their brain?
Dan, those are my sentiments exactly. I don’t know any of them personally so I don’t like to pass judgement on the internet. I’m glad I’m not the only one thinking it though. I only wish I would have bought stock in tannerite cause I bet a whole lot is used up in filming both of them shows.
Well, finally watched it on the DVR last night….
Pretty funny show, not the usual “what happened today at the store” routine.
Can you imagine growing up with all that military hardware everywhere? One could play a pretty authentic game of “G.I. Joe” with your friends.
The idiot in Colorado reminds me of a tornado. A lot of wind and all of it useless to mankind. I heard he lost his FFL for some violation. In his case probably for spreading too much BS. The sons of guns show is an insult to the human brain. The leader/owner Will(?) is an insult to the Corps. Or as our Islamic Communist president calls it the “CORPSE”. Don’t you love having the village idiot for president.
This show, Family of Guns, is pretty good except “me thinks Alex whines too much”. I hope it is for the camera only. They deal in some good stuff. So far I find it interesting. I don’t go for cap and ball or others from that era but find it interesting. I am more of a WWII and Korea guy myself probably because I am an old fart. Anyway keep up the good work.
Haven’t watched this show yet; want to, but I’m not keen on a show that starts out by bashing two other shows – no matter what they are. The fact that I enjoy both shows is another thing entirely. If your show is as good as you say it is, there’s no need to put down other shows – it should stand alone as a good show.
I’ll find out for myself.
It’s actually a pretty good show. I like watching this rich spoiled guy acting reckless while he treats his dad like complete sh*t. He won’t let his dad spend $3,000 on guns, then turns around and negotiates to buy a quarter of a million dollar tank w/o consulting with his dad first while keeping his dad and a super tight leash. I’m going to like watching this!
=D
What an awful show. Alex is a whiny little punk. Golly I have to hide what I’m doing from daddy. Daddy won’t let me do what I want. Waaaaaaa! Daddy is a blowhard. Typical fake drama. Typical staged scenes of doing what they claim is the wrong thing to do. Everyone talking crap about everyone else. I hope they enjoy their 15 minutes of fame while they make asses of themselves. I can’t imagine how pathetic a life fans of this show must live.
I LIKE THE SHOW. I LIKE THE PLAYERS. I THINK WHOM EVER IS GVING THEM ADVICE ON WHO,WHAT,WHY, WHEN & WHEN IS NOT DOING THEM JUSTICE! THE WHOLE IDEA IS TO EXPAND KNOWLEDGE OF THE BUSINESS, PRODUCTS, AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. ON EVERY SHOW SO FAR THE SON HAS EXPESSED HIS DELIGHT WITH HOW MUCH “PROFIT” HE MADE ON EACH SALE! HE EVEN GOES ON TO SHOW WHAT HE BOUGHT, FROM WHOM HE BOUGHT IT FROM HOW MUCH HE PAID AND THEN HOW MUCH HE GOT FROM A CUSTOMER. IT MAKES ONE FEEL AS THOUGH YOUR WATCHING AN ARMED ROBBERY TAKING PLACE ON LIVE ON TV! DROP THE IDEA OF HOW MUCH YOU MAKE FROM THE BUYERS OR YOU WILL CONTINUE TO LOOK LIKE IMORAL BUINESS PEOPLE. I KNOW YOU’RE IN BUSINESS AND YOU MUST MAKE A PROFIT BUT DONT MAKE IT THE FOCAL POINT OF YOUR SHOW OR YOU WILL CONTINE TO LOOK LIKE CROOKS RATHER THAN FRIENDLY INFORMATIVE PROFESSOR TYPES THAT JUST HAPPEN TO SEEL WHAT YOU SHOW ON THE SERIES! CHANGE THIS OR PERISH, BECAUSE NO ONE WANTS TO FEEL LIKE THEY GOT SCREWED WHEN BUYING ANYTHING FROM ANYONE REGARDLESS OF THE BUSINESS MODEL! ALL OF THIS IS JUST MY OPINION AND I SUSPECT YOU WILL DO AS YOU HAVE ALREADY PLANNED REGARDLESS HOWEVER KEEP IN MIND THE MINIONS WHO ARE THE SOURCE OF YOUR BUSINESS SUCESS DOLLARS!

Interesting show but horribly scripted. In some of the scenes you can almost guess what will come out of their mouths next. Alex needs to settle down and bit and get over his giddyness of being on a reality show.
This has to be one of the most scripted shows out there. The childish bickering between father and son gets very old quickly. I really don’t see how this show will make it as there is so little real substance to it. It’s on the verge of being out right corny.
Alex needs to go. Then I’ll start watching again.
Hi Viewers, I like the Company, I like Christian’s attitude toward the historic pieces, especially the Art pieces, he’s right on the button on the appreciation side, but he is a collector, not a salesman. Alex is a salesman, and takes it upon himself to be responsible for the hard task of staying afloat in a hard business world. The two will never be on the same page. To Alex, Guns are a commodity just as cash and gold are. Christian has a mission to save the best for posterity, and hide them away from Alex !! I wish him luck !!
Hi Again, Another point, Some guns are worth thousands, some guns can, and ought to be, a good price for the entry level collector or shooter, as long as the prices are reasonable, no one should be unhappy about paying a good price for a good piece. P.S, shooting the civil war prototype tightened the sphincters of all of us who appreciated the historical significance of the piece. Don’t do that again Alex !! P.S, these old guns should be ndt tested before test firing, American safety precautions, and standards, i have noticed, leave alot to be desired !
….OH YES, Wear safety glasses and ppe even around the warehouse !!
Family Guns–It would be nice to see at least one family member drive an American car, from either GM, Ford or Chrysler.
All I can really say is, if Alex was my son I would fire, disinherit and disown his whiny spoiled ass, then have him prosecuted for theft. Like IMA doesn’t have enough items to sell out of their warehouses, he thinks he has the right to steal items out of Christian’s private collection and sell them behind the old man’s back. Somebody oughta smack the eyebrows off that smarmy little prick!
do these people think everyone are idiots. on a recent show they supposedly bought a walker bulldog tank but the tank on the show was a chaffee light tank circa late ww2.not the same no way no how
i have a winchester one of one with a serial #sdg00001 for sale in fully engraved with 24 carat gold inlay cal. model 94 410 phone 479 462 2805
they are actors, one of them was in movie 43,,some of the weapons are interesting but the reality is that its all bs
