Fujinon Enters Riflescope Market with New Accurion Scopes
Fujinon (a division of FujiFilm) is already a major producer of binoculars, broadcast/cinema lenses, and customized precision optics. Parent FujiFilm is also a world leader in the digital camera market. Now the technical expertise of FujiFilm and Fujinon will be applied to a series of lightweight, affordable riflescopes — the new line of Accurion Sport Riflescopes by Fujinon.
We think it’s good that Fujinon is jumping into the rifle optics market. The more competition the merrier. FujiFilm has very high design and engineering capabilities, and we expect the entry of Fujinon into the sport optics market will encourage other scope makers to offer more attractive pricing. The first series of Accurion scopes will be extremely affordable — the highest magnification option, a 4-12x40mm scope, retails for just $189.99. Watch out Burris, Bushnell, Leupold, Nikon, and Weaver.
There are four new Accurion scopes, all featuring 1″ main tubes, 1/4-MOA click values, and multi-coated optics with 95% light transmission. The notable quality of all Accurion scopes is light weight — they weigh up to 10% less than other leading brands. That’s good news for hunters. Two reticle types will be offered initially: Standard Plex or BDC (bullet drop compensation). All Accurion scopes are backed by FujiFilm’s Limited Lifetime Warranty. now if they start making a benchrest scope and 1/8th clicks i could become interested
You might think that a big company might reach out to people who (forgive me) are their target audience and ask “what do you guys need that you don’t have in a scope?” A 4.5 x with a good reticle for service rifle competition. A good target scope with enough magnification to shoot 1000 yards and still see the rings. Target turrets not made of plastic, side adjustable parallax , quarter minute dot that illuminates and is bright enough to see in daytime and is affordable. I could go on but nobody asked.
I am interested, so where can you buy them?
Swarovski is claiming 93% light transmission, and these claim 95% at a fraction of the price. Obviously the japanese ( or Chinese ?) have a different way of measuring the light transmission from the Austrians.
Editor: One thing to consider is that these Fujinon scopes are all relatively low-magnification units, with fewer and smaller lenses than you might find on a higher-magnification Swarovski. Also writer Randy Wakeman reports: “While a lot of attention is paid to light transmission, it does not define the quality or capability of a riflescope. Swarovski pays attention to things like internal ribbing and the microstructure surface inside the scope to attenuate the effects of bright light that can add flare and degrade image quality.”
