The 2024 SHOT Show is now just nine-and-a-half weeks away. The NSSF SHOT Show is the leading gun/hunting/shooting industry trade show. The huge event takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Venetian Expo and Caesars Forum. At SHOT Show, visitors can see thousands of new guns, optics, accessories, and ammo offerings. This is the premier opportunity to have a “hands-on” view of new products, network with industry leaders, and attend informative seminars. This year’s event runs Tuesday through Friday, January 23-26, 2024, preceded by Media Day at the Range on January 22nd.
Book Hotels Now to Save Money
Unfortunately, we are seeing that, for SHOT Show week, Las Vegas hotel rates are up to 50% higher than before the pandemic. And numerous hotels are deceptively adding extra “resort fees” and processing charges, which worsen the high costs. Before you confirm a reservation, make sure you know ALL the COSTS, including room rates, taxes, resort fees, parking charges, and non-refundable deposits.
The longer you wait, the higher the cost of Las Vegas rooms will be. NSSF notes that: “It is important for attendees to book hotel rooms sooner than later to get better room rates and to get a room in a preferred location. SHOT Show Information
We expect over 50,000 people will attend SHOT Show 2024. As in 2023, this year’s SHOT Show encompasses two facilities — the Venetian Expo AND the new Caesars Forum. Combined, these facilities provide over 800,000 square feet of exhibit space. The two trade show halls are connected by an elevated walking bridge.
SHOT Show 2023 was a big success, drawing over 52,000 registered visitors from over 100 nations. The show was virtually sold out of exhibit space with 2500+ exhibitors overall. Everything you can imagine relating to firearms and hunting was on display at the show: rifles, pistols, shotguns, ammunition, optics, stocks, barrels, reloading equipment, safety gear, gun cases, and more.
Today, January 20th, 2023, is the last day of SHOT Show 2023. To celebrate the successful show this year, we’ve collected a variety of images from the event. Industry Day at the Range is a unique event. Gun industry representatives are able to view, inspect, and shoot scores of new rifles, shotguns, and pistols provided by 200+ manufacturers from around the globe. In addition, new optics and shooting accessories are on display. Hundreds of media members and other gun industry personnel visited the Boulder City, Nevada gun range on 1/16/23 to test a wide variety of new firearms. There were many notable new products, with new rifles, pistols, and optics on display.
Conditions this year at the range were pretty brutal. It was cold, and there were wicked, 20+ mph winds. Still most of the shooting was at targets inside 50 yards so those breezes didn’t stop the show. It did make it more challenging to hit the longer range targets set up on the upper rifle bay.

SIG Sauer MCX-Spear Tactical Rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor
SIG Sauer’s MCX-Spear will soon be available to purchase. GunsAmerica Digest Editor True Pearce was impressed with this advanced tactical rifle, which is a semi-auto version of the full-auto platform that won the Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) contract with the U.S. military. MSRP for the MXC-Spear is $4199.00. It will initially be offered in .308 Winchester, and then 6.5 Creedmoor soon after. A few months later, the new .277 SIG chambering should be available. This looks like an AR, but because it has a gas piston (rather than direct impingement), it needs no AR-type buffer tube. This allows a handy folding stock. The all-new Oracle Arms 2311 has features derived from the classic 1911 platform, but modernized in many ways. Will this be a game changer? Only time will tell. The Hunt Fish Shoot Channel testers state “a completely ambidextrous 2011-style pistol with P320 magazines is something to get excited about!”
Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol Shotgun
The new Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol is an American-made semi-automatic tactical shotgun for under $1000. The A300 series carries forward many features of the popular Beretta 1301, but with a redesigned operating system and lower price tag. This was filmed at the Special Beretta 2023 Range Day.
Henry Homesteader 9mm Semi-Auto Pistol Caliber Carbine
Henry Repeating Arms is known for classically-styled, lever-action rifles, but the new Homesteader is very different. This is a semi-automatic, 9mm Luger-chambered pistol-caliber carbine complete with a two-piece wood stock, open sights, and a 16″ threaded barrel. The design employs a proprietary magazine, though adapters for Glock, SIG Sauer P320, and Smith & Wesson M&P magazines will also be available.

REPEAT Performance — Savage Impulse Elite Precision Rifle
As we recently featured Savage’s straight-pull Impulse Elite Precision rifle in our Daily Bulletin, we are reprising a video from Range Day 2022. GunsAmerica Digest Editor True Pearce tested the Impulse Elite Precision at the Savage range booth. Pearce confirmed that the straight-pull action can, with a little practice, definitely increase rifle cycling speed: “It’s much faster to chamber follow-up shots, and stay on target. Supplier Showcase Monday and Tuesday
Even before the SHOT Show exhibit halls open, attendees can meet with industry representatives at the SHOT Show Supplier Showcase. This two-day event starts early on Monday, January 16th. It is hosted at the Palazzo Ballroom on the 5th Floor of the Venetian hotel. Over 500 suppliers will participate. For persons who use or produce tools, machinery, plastics, fabrics, OE materials, logistics, software or other products and services for the shooting, hunting, outdoor and law enforcement industries, the Supplier Showcase provides the opportunity to connect with a wide range of manufacturers and other industry professionals.

SHOT After Dark is a series of networking events each evening Tuesday through Thursday after the main exhibit halls close. On Tuesday there is a Industry Welcome Reception at the Great Outdoors Plaza followed by a Rock and Roll themed event at Rockhouse Las Vegas. On Wednesday there will be an All Star Jam Concert outside Caesars Forum, next to Great Outdoors Plaza.

SHOT Show, the huge gun industry trade show, returned to Las Vegas this past week, after a COVID-caused hiatus in 2021. Though attendance was down signficantly this year, it was still a major event, with thousands of companies showcasing products in two massive exhibit halls. There were plenty of new handgun offerings, and notably, some of the big AR-platform black rifle builders are now selling bolt guns. Here is the new Aero Precision A700 bolt-action rifle.
SHOT Show Day 2 Highlights — Nine Companies
This video from the Classic Firearms YouTube Channel spotlights a number of interesting products, both at Industry Day at the Range, and inside SHOT Show 2022. Companies covered include: Zastava (1:00), Kalashnikov USA (6:33), LMT Defense (12:21), Geissele (20:35), SureFire (25:12), Foxtrot Mike (32:20), Maxim Defense (34:15), Great Lakes (44:35), and Sylvan Arms (46.20).
Top Five New Guns from Industry Day at the Range
There were many interesting rifles and handguns on display at the Industry Day at the Range. Savage’s new straight-pull Impulse PRS/NRL rifle attracted considerable attention. Many of the testers at the range were also impressed by the new .44 Auto Mag which is featured in this “Top Five” video from TheGunSnob channel. The tester said this .44 Auto Mag was “by far my favorite [gun] I shot all day.”
Magpul New Products
TFB TV showcases multiple new products from Magpul for 2022. We liked what we saw, including a new $600 Pro 700 Lite chassis, and a new 8-ounce bipod. Magpul also had its radical FDP-9 “enclosed pistols” on display. Magpul explains: “With recently confirmed classification of the FDP-9 as a handgun, the purchaser can enjoy the firearm as a self-enclosing, large-format pistol. They may also choose to file the appropriate ATF Form 1 and, after approval, purchase a conversion kit to legally assemble it into the FDC-9. It will then be classified as a short-barreled rifle (SBR) and subject to all NFA laws.”
Mantis — Advanced Dry-Fire Training System
Mantis makes a variety of firearm-arms mounted systems that monitor muzzle movement and display that through a mobile App. These systems allow dry-fire practice at home — a great way to improve your marksmanship without spending big bucks on ammo. Mantis had a display at SHOT Show 2022. A Mantis dry-fire device fitted to an AR-platform rig (with the Mantis Blackbeard trigger reset system) is featured in this video record at the Mantis SHOT Show booth:
Cutting Edge Bullets — Solid, High-BC Bullets for .22 LR Reloaders
With the growth of long-range rimfire tactical competition, there has been interest in high-BC bullets fitted into the diminutive .22 LR case. This effort has been pioneered by Cutting Edge Bullets, which offers a variety of .22 caliber projectiles created expressly for hand-loaded .22 LR. Cutting Edge also offers dies and special shellholders for reloading the .22 LR case. This video (from 2020) explains how Cutting Edge pioneered long, high-BC lathe-turned solid bullets for the .22 LR cartridge. SHOT Show 2022 is one week away. The 2022 event kicks off with Media Day at the Range on Monday, January 17, 2022. Then the indoor event runs Tuesday the 18th through Friday the 21st. There will be over 2300 exhibitors from all 50 states and 78 nations. This year will see the biggest show ever in terms of floor space. SHOT Show occupies TWO large exhibit halls in 2022 — the Venetian Expo and the brand new Caesars Forum. Total exhibit space for the 2022 show in these two venues is more than 800,000 net square feet — equivalent to more than 18 acres (about 14 football field). And with these twin halls, SHOT Show boasts 13.9 miles of aisles!

The Safari Club International (SCI) convention returns to Las Vegas after a one-year hiatus due to the COVID Pandemic. The SCI convention will take place at the Mandalay Bay Hotel complex. This is a milestone for the Safari Club International, with the organization celebrating its 50th year. The SCI event, the world’s largest hunting convention, should attract thousands of visitors. Over 70 convention seminars will cover the full spectrum of hunting, fishing, shooting, and outdoor adventures.
Somewhat surprisingly, this year’s SCI convention overlaps SHOT Show, which runs January 18-21, 2022 at the Venetian Expo and Caesar’s Forum in Las Vegas. OK, it’s official. SHOT Show will be taking place in Las Vegas in January 2022, after being cancelled in 2021 due to the Pandemic. The 2022 SHOT Show is set to be the largest show in its four-plus-decade history. Media Day at the Range takes place Monday, January 17, 2022 at the Boulder Rifle & Pistol Club. Then the 4-day-long SHOT Show main event runs Tuesday, January 18 through Friday, January 22, 2022.
SHOT Show Registration Starts Monday October 18, 2022
SHOT Show 2022 Attendee Registration opens up Monday, October 18, 2021. Media registration officially opens on October 20, but the Media Registration site has actually been accepting registrations since last week (we registered on 10/8/2021).
The 2022 SHOT Show will be held January 18-21 at The Venetian Expo and the all-new Caesars Forum. To make navigating between the two facilities as efficient as possible, a bridge was recently constructed connecting the two convention centers. This new bridge will allow attendees to walk between the two facilities in less than one minute.

There will be no actual SHOT Show in Las Vegas next month — the huge trade show was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) will offer an online learning experience, which it calls SHOT Show On Demand. Registration has just opened for SHOT Show’s “On Demand” offerings: SHOT University, Retailer Seminars, and Import/Export Webinar Series. These commence with Import/Export sessions on January 11, and conclude with a final Retailer Seminar on January 29, 2021.
Highlights of the 24 On-demand sessions for retailers and range owners will include:

The full lineup of available 2021 SHOT Show online education sessions can be viewed at https://shotshow.org/shot-show-on-demand-education. The Import/Export series (four live sessions) takes place Jan. 11-14. SHOT University (six live and two prerecorded sessions) takes place Jan. 18-20, while the 12 all-live Retailer Seminars take place Jan. 21-29. Registration for SHOT University, which includes all eight sessions, is just $265 for NSSF members. Retailer Seminars are available for $25 each to NSSF members, $50 each to non-members.
