Hunting season is here. Time to organize your gear before heading to deer country. If you don’t have a quality, compact Laser Rangefinder, here’s a great deal. The 7x25mm SIG Sauer Kilo 2200 BDX Rangefinder is now on sale for under $350.00. This is an accurate LRF that ranges deer-sized targets at long distances quickly. The scan mode is fast and very effective. The unit is compact and light — a bonus for hunters.
This SIG LRF sold for over $500.00 when it was introduced. Now you can save 30%, with the Kilo 2200 BDX selling for just $346.99 at Amazon, with Free Shipping. Given its performance, that’s a steal. (With very similar performance, the SIG Kilo 2200 BDX is less than half the price of SIG’s Kilo 2400 BDX, $799.99 on Amazon.) We have tested a variety of LRFs from Bushnell, Leica, Leupold, Sig, Swarovski, and Zeiss. This SIG Kilo 2200 BDX will run with anything in the sub-$500 price range. If you are looking for a small LRF that can fit in a shirt pocket, this Kilo 2200 BDX is a good choice. Glass is good, controls are good, ranging capability is good. Light-Wave DSP Technology enables the Kilo 2200 BDX to range extremely fast. Scan mode refresh rate is an ultra-fast 4 times per second. The unit’s “smart” OLED Lumatic Display automatically runs bright in full sunlight, while dimming down to low levels at dusk and dawn. |
|
And the BDX (Ballistic Data Xchange) capability is a big bonus if you have a compatible SIG Sauer BDX riflescope. This rangefinder can communicate with BDX scopes or phone Apps, providing ballistics solutions. Using Bluetooth, the built-in BDX system sends an illuminated holdover dot to any Bluetooth-enabled SIG Sauer BDX scope. Even with a conventional scope, the SIG Kilo 2200 BDX rangefinder will communicate with a free ballistics App on your mobile device.
SIG Kilo 2200 BDX Verified Buyer Reviews
Read the reviews on Amazon. 87% of verified buyers gave this SIG LRF Five Stars:
Five Stars: “I spent a lot of time agonizing over which rangefinder to purchase, and I’m glad I went with this one. I’ve easily ranged objects out to 1300 yards. Pairing it with the Sig Sauer BDX App and imputing some ballistic and wind data shows me MOA adjustments both in the App and directly in the rangefinder while I’m ranging.” (Review by A. Kirzner, June 2020)
Five Stars: “Amazingly fast and accurate readings. The fact that they pair with Bluetooth to the ballistics App on my phone makes long range shooting much easier.” (Review by Eric A., May 2019)
Five Stars: “Quick to acquire target, easy to use, red reticle works great in low light conditions.” (Review by Brian C., October 2019)
And here is a review of the previous model, the SIG Kilo 2000: “It’s small — palm-sized. If you’re a backcountry shooter and every ounce counts, you can wear this unit around your neck all day long. In my experience and opinion, the Sig Kilo 2000 is an amazing laser rangefinder at a very reasonable price. When it comes to the raw function of a laser rangefinder, to give accurate, repeatable distance measurements within your target range, the Sig Kilo 2000 blows away anything even remotely close to it in its price range.” (Review by Verified Customer, July 2016)

6. Amazon — Mac Folding Cart, starting at $56.99
Heading to the range or a match always requires transporting gear from your vehicle to the firing line. Most shooters use a cart, but many have small or narrow wheels and are tough to drag across sand, grass or rocks when fully loaded. We like Mac Sports Folding Carts which fold flat yet offer plenty of cargo space for your gear. Amazon offers 35″x20″ Mac Carts starting at $56.99 for Camo and $57.69 for Red, with many other colors. We do recommend spending $23 more for the $79.99 heavy-duty Mac Cart available at Costco. This larger (37″x22″) gray Costco cart boasts much WIDER WHEELS so it rolls way better in sand or gravel. The Costco Mac cart also has a 300-lb carrying capacity.
7. Amazon — Vortex 20-60x60mm Angled Spotting Scope, $393
Whether hunting or target shooting, spotting scopes help you get on target faster and easier than using bare eyes or scope. It offers great clarity, a compact form design and an unconditional lifetime guarantee.
8. Keen — Men’s Gypsum II Waterproof Shoe, $69.99
Whether shooting at a match or out in the forest having good footwear is critical to your comfort and safety. If you attend any regional or national match and look at what people are wearing, you’ll see quite a few people wearing Keen shoes and for good reason. They’re rugged, durable and probably the most comfortable outdoor shoe this editor has worn for days on end. If you’ve been looking for an extra pair or maybe want to try them for yourself, head over to the Keen website where the Gypsum II waterproof hiking shoe is 47% off. They also have some great sales on other men’s and women’s shoes right now.
9. Grizzly — High-Quality Range Bag Clearance, $13 to $24
Every shooter needs a good range bag. Grizzly is near the end of its clearance on range gear and the clearance range bags are now just $13 to $24. Your Editor uses this range bag to carry spotting scopes and camera gear (see photo below).
These quality bags have high-density foam sidewalls and internal padded “shelves” that make these much better than typical floppy range bags. These are more like a premium camera case that holds its shape. There are nice front and side pockets with quality zippers. FYI the $12.97 bag really is a hot pink, though it may look red on your monitor. The photo above is a 20″ bag in original red (sold out).
10. Amazon — Anti-Fog Safety Glasses, $16.94
All recreational and competitive shooters should have quality Z87-rated protective eyewear. Folks, you only have one set of eyes. Without eye protection, a single blown primer could seriously damage your eyesight. Right now you can grab this 3 pack of anti-fog safety glasses and always have an extra pair when you need them.

The Zeiss glass is exceptionally sharp and the controls are positive. The range of magnification is just about optimal for shooting varmints from 100-400 yards. We also like Zeiss Rapid-Z Varmint ballistic reticle. This features hold-over hash-marks so you can move quickly from one yardage to another. When a P-dog pops up you may only have a few seconds to make the shot. With this reticle, optimized for chamberings such as .204 Ruger and 22-250, you don’t have to mess with clicking for elevation. This scope has a 1″ main tube and 1/4-MOA clicks.
Woodbury Outfitters — Big-Name Scopes, All Under $180.00
Sometimes a budget optic will do the job — for a youth rifle, or a “truck gun” that sees hard use. For a hunting rig, you don’t necessarily want or need more than 9-power, and a lighter-weight scope with lower profile has definite advantages. If you are looking for a budget riflescope, check out thes Black Friday Bargains at Woodbury Outfitters. Here are six scopes all under $180.00. Read the reviews on Amazon. Virtually every purchaser gave this thing Five Stars. Here are three typical buyer reports. |
|
SIG Kilo 2000 Verified Buyer Reviews
Five Stars: “AWESOME! Best rangefinder for the money. Easily ranges out to 1100 yards. That is the furthest I have tested it to.” (Review by Kochman, July 2017)
Five Stars: “I will review by comparing it with another 2000-yard rangefinder… a Newcon 2000 which finally broke after about 6 years. This Sig Sauer Kilo 2000 has better optics, faster readings, ranges reflective and non reflective targets farther… it’s much smaller and it’s about $150 cheaper. It has better warranty.” (Review by Hillbilly, April 2017)
Five Stars: “Challenges $3000+ Rangefinders for performance. Let me say right up front that I received zero perks, products, or considerations for the review that follows. It’s strictly the opinion of an old shooter still trying to hit groundhogs in adjacent area codes, nothing more. I’ve used laser rangefinders since they first hit the market in the early 90s and ranged all of 200 yards. I have used and owned $2K rangefinders with built-in ballistic computers.
It’s small — palm-sized.

1. Bullets.com — 6mm Dasher Brass from Norma
It’s finally here, ladies and gentlemen — factory-made Dasher brass. That means no more fireforming! This 6mm Dasher brass has been custom crafted by Norma exclusively for Bullets.com. A special blend of brass together with special treatment of the primer pockets has produced casings that will last for many firings under normal use. The necks have been specially lengthened and are .290″ from shoulder. Overall length is 1.598″ and neck walls are approximately .013″ thick. Available in packs of 100 ($109.95) or 500 ($529.95).
NOTE: This extra-sturdy brass has a thicker rim which may not work in your standard shell holder. Custom shell holder item BL12100 is designed to accommodate the heavy rim of these cases.
2. CDNN Sports — 1911-Type .22 LR Target Pistol
Everyone should have an accurate .22 LR target pistol. This German-made GSG 1911 22LR pistol shares the look, feel, and ergonomics of J.M. Browning’s classic model 1911 so it’s good for cross-training. We’ve tried this pistol and the trigger is pretty darn good — though don’t expect it be be as nice as a S&W Model 41. But consider that the GSG costs just $249.99. By contrast, MSRP on a new Model 41 is a steep $1369.00. For cross-training and target work the GSG is a very good value.
3. Monmouth Reloading — Sig Sauer Kilo 2000 LRF, $499.00
This excellent laser rangefinder rivals other premium LRFs selling for hundreds more. Head-to-head field tests with Leica, Zeiss, and Swarovski LRFs proved that the new Sig Sauer Kilo 2000 can play in that league, but at a much more affordable price point. Sig accomplishes that with tight beam divergence and state-of-the-art DSP technology which allows the Kilo 2000 to range faster (and more reliably) at longer
distances. Optic magnification is 7X. The Kilo 2000 weighs 7.5 oz and measures 3″ x 4.2″ x 1.3″.
SAVE MORE: Right now you can save an additional $110 off every Rangefinder Monmouth Reloading sells, including the Sig Kilo 2000. To save an additional $110, use Coupon Code LRF 110. That will lower your cost to $389.00 for the Kilo 2000, which is a total steal. (Time-Limited Offer!)
4. Cabelas.com — Rock Chucker Supreme Reloading Kit
Everything you see above can be yours for just $225.00, after manufacturer’s rebate. Right now, Cabela’s is selling the Rock Chucker Supreme Master Reloading Kit for $300.00. That’s a good deal as this Reloading Kit sells elsewhere for up to $360.00. But he’s the real incentive — if you spend $300.00 on RCBS products in 2016, RCBS will send you a $75.00 rebate. With that REBATE, your net cost is just $225.00 for the entire Kit.
5. Amazon — Motorola Walkie Talkies, $42.56 per Pair
Walkie-Talkies are “must-have” items for long-range shooting. The 22-CH Motorola MH230R Two-Way Radio is Amazon’s #1 Best Seller in FRS/GMRS Handheld Radios. This under-$45.00 set offers 22 channels with a claimed range up to 23 miles (We’ve used them and they worked at 3 miles line of sight). The kit includes: 2 radios, 2 belt clips, 1 dual drop-in charger, 1 charging adapter, 2 NiMH rechargeable battery packs. Run-time is about 10 hours — plenty for a full day of shooting. There is also a newer version, the Motorola T260 for $59.00.
6. Amazon — Nikon 1-4x20mm M-223 Scope with BDC, $212.46
Under the CMP’s new Service Rifle Rules, you can use an optic with up to 4.5X magnification and 34mm objective. If you have money to burn, you could purchase the excellent new Nightforce 4.5x24mm SR scope for $1950.00.
