If your carry gun is too big and bulky, you probably won’t carry it, which sort of defeats the whole purpose. The Ruger LCP is light (9.6 ounces) and compact (5.16″ OAL), so you’re more likely to carry it regularly. The little LCP is small enough to fit in a pocket. The .380 ACP cartridge is not as powerful as a 9x19mm or 40 S&W to be sure, but when your life is on the line, a small gun is certainly better than no gun. Comment: Will this Celestron perform like a premium spotting scope from Kowa, Pentax, Leica, Swarovski or Zeiss? Of course not. But it may “do the job” if you are looking for a basic spotter to use at close range, or when pistol shooting.

It’s official, Cabela’s is being acquired by Bass Pro Shops. The Shooting Wire reports:
Cabela’s Shareholders Approve Bass Pro Shops Merger
“It only took about 35 people around 20 minutes yesterday to approve a $4.2 billion merger that’s been lingering for months. Backed by what Cabela’s CEO Tommy Milner calls ‘overwhelming support’, the shareholders of Cabela’s approved [the] proposed merger with Bass Pro Shops. Under the current terms, shareholders will receive $61.50/per share for the stock which has been trading in the $58.90-$59.94 range. After the merger, the companies will be based in Springfield, Missouri. No word on how many of the 1,000 workers in Cabela’s Sydney, Nebraska, headquarters will be retained.”
Bass Pro Shops will acquire popular outdoor retail chain Cabela’s (NYSE:CAB) in a $4.2 billion deal expected to close in Q3 of 2017. According to The Street: “Cabela’s agreed in April to be bought by Bass Pro Shops for $61.50 a share, down from the original purchase price of $65.50 a share, valuing the acquisition at $4.2 billion.” After the merger, Bass Pro will continue to recognize Cabela’s CLUB points, and the branded credit cards will be serviced by Capital One.

This 10-50x60mm Sightron recently faired very well in recent tests when compared to high-magnification scopes costing twice as much. It displayed excellent repeatability and click precision. It may not have the fancy name, but this 10-50X optic is definitely good enough to win long-range benchrest and F-Class matches. Editor’s Comment: Our similar Tipton gun vise has proven invaluable for many tasks: cleaning barrels, stock refinishing/bedding, scope mounting, trigger adjusting, bore-scoping barrels, and checking throat length. To be honest, I can’t understand how any serious shooter can get along without a product such as this. That said, these types of gun vises are not perfect. The front cradle will NOT fit rifles with forearms wider than 3 inches. And if your butt-stock is very shallow (vertically) from comb down to toe, it may not fit the rear clamping system very well. But, for 95% of the rifles out there, this type of Gun Vise works great. Just don’t ever use it as a shooting rest — it is NOT designed for that!
