Science of Accuracy Academy — New from Applied Ballistics

Bryan Litz long range Science of Accuracy Applied Ballistics

Applied Ballistics has just launched a great, new online resource for shooters: The Science of Accuracy Academy. This subscription-based website is launching with nearly 30 podcast episodes, with many more planned, as well as video content, Zoom classes, and much more.

The main goal of this new online resource is to adapt and modernize the delivery of content coming from Applied Ballistics LLC. In past years, books, DVDs, and seminars were the primary avenues for delivering information. Modern technology has evolved, and the delivery of information can be done in more efficient ways such as streaming videos, podcast discussions of book and seminar content. In addition to being a more modern delivery platform, The Science of Accuracy Academy allows for more frequent updates than traditional books and DVDs.

Bryan Litz, owner of Applied Ballistics LLC tells us: “I’m very excited about this avenue to share what we’re learning in the Applied Ballistics lab. I think many shooters will benefit from the podcasts, which contain very insightful discussions and can be enjoyed in your car, or as you work. We look forward to publishing more of our research thru the Science of Accuracy Academy”.

You can visit The Science of Accuracy Academy website at: thescienceofaccuracy.com. For full access to all Academy content and “members only” online events, a subscription runs $9.95/month.

About the Science of Accuracy Academy Content and Programs

Below, Bryan Litz comments about the Academy’s new podcast offerings and other interactive content. Bryan notes: “We’ve benefited a great deal from practicing the scientific method, and we want to share what we’ve learned.”

Book Content via Podcasts — Many of the podcast episodes are specific reviews of Applied Ballistics book chapters. I’ll sit with Mitch or Francis (both experienced, champion shooters) and discuss the chapter, what it was like to do the tests. We will also discuss behind the scenes problems, as well as what we’ve learned since publishing the books. This lets subscribers get knowledge from the books. And, as a podcast, you can listen while driving, working out, or whatever.

The World of Doppler Radar — In recent years we have spent considerable time visiting shooting matches with the AB Mobile Lab and running Doppler radar. Between that and some of the government contracting work, we’ve built up a lot of experiences and it’s been a long time since a book was published. This Academy is a great outlet for us to update the shooting world on what we’ve been doing and learning.

Ballistics Science and Precision Loading — We’ve been doing hardcore ballistic science for the past few years and have a lot to share. We’ve come to see some aspects of handloading and shooting in a fundamentally different way. For example, understanding the statistical nature of precision has caused us to re-shape how we make decisions in the handloading process. As a result, we now better understand cause-effect relationships and can make deliberate, reliable progress as a result.

Bryan Litz Announces the New Science of Accuracy Academy

The Lighter Side — Bryan told AccurateShooter.com: “Some of the podcast episodes are much less serious! We have fun arguing about which shooting disciplines are harder. For example, Mitch Fitzpatrick and I talk with Francis Colon and Chad Heckler about PRS vs. ELR shooting. We discuss what we like and dislike about the different sports, what we would like to see changed, and what competition shooting has meant for us as individuals. This open-ended format explores long range shooting from the technical to the personal and everything in-between.”

Tom Gresham’s Gun Talk Celebrates 25 Years

Tom Gresham Gun Talk Radio

This week, Tom Gresham’s Gun Talk Radio celebrates 25 years on the air, a significant milestone for the original nationally-syndicated radio talk show about guns and the shooting sports. The 25th Annual Episode airs live on Sunday March 8, 2020 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Eastern time on radio stations nationwide. This special show can also be heard online via the GUNTALK PODCAST Site and Apple iTunes.

As a special bonus for Gun Talk Fans, here is a podcast of the first-ever Gun Talk Radio show in 1995.

Bonus Podcast: First Gun Talk Radio Show – March 5, 1995

To celebrate 25 years of radio, Tom Gresham has invited some of his favorite guests to stop by, including Second Amendment Foundation’s Alan Gottlieb, National Shooting Sports Foundation CEO Joe Bartozzi, Ted Nugent, Gunsite’s Ken Campbell, Pro Shooters Julie Golob and Rob Leatham, Sheriff Jim Wilson, and Shootrite Training Academy’s Tiger McKee.

Tom Gresham Gun Talk RadioTom Gresham noted: “When I created Gun Talk in 1995, gun owners had just seen the passage of two massive anti-rights laws — the Brady Act and the Clinton Gun Ban. The media, when it covered this at all, lied and continued to lie … even when corrected. America’s 100 million gun owners were sick of the slanted news coverage, and they found Gun Talk to be a breath of fresh air…”

“Today, we face many of the same challenges… Gun Talk radio is perhaps more important today than … 25 years ago. Whether it’s helping the first-time gun buyer sort out what he needs to buy, or exposing politicians who claim to be supporters of the Second Amendment while putting restrictions on this right, there’s plenty to talk about.”

Tom Gresham’s Gun Talk radio show airs live on Sundays from 2PM-5PM Eastern, and runs on more than 270 stations. Listen on a radio station near you or via LIVE Streaming. All Gun Talk shows can also be downloaded as podcasts at http://bit.ly/GTRpodcast, Apple iTunes, or through the Gundelio Apps. Gun Talk is also available on YouTube, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and GunTalk.com.

F-TR Champion Shares Winning Secrets in Vortex Video Podcast

Ian Klemm Vortex podcast F-Class F-TR shooting skills

Ian Klemm, 2017 F-TR USA National Champion, is one of America’s top F-Class shooters, both shooting individually and in team competition. Ian is known for his consistency, smooth gun handling, and an uncanny ability to shoot well even in the toughest wind conditions. In this Vortex Video, Ian and fellow long-range shooter Niles Richardson, reveal some of their competitive secrets, and wind-reading techniques. This video focuses primarily on F-Class competition but Ian and Niles also talk more broadly about the myriad factors that contribute to rifle accuracy. Topics include: match strategies, wind and mirage reading, barrel harmonics, bipods, and optics.

Vortex Nation Podcast Episode 57 Summary
From Vortex: Our original intent was to have just a podcast about the sport of F-Class shooting, but when you get these brainiacs (Ian Klemm and Niles Richardson) talking about their obsession… er… “Hobby” you better believe it’s going to turn into a full on long range shooting information assault to the brain. Fact of the matter is, in F-Class, the only thing that matters is long range accuracy – and when we say “Accuracy”, we’re talking about sub-MOA groups on paper at 1000 yards with .308 Wins. Every single aspect of an F-Class competitor’s game is completely dialed in for long range accuracy.

We talk about the guns, their bipods, wind, mirage, barrel harmonics and the special scopes F-Class competitors need for their rifles. Ian even goes so far as to tell us how much his rifle has moved prior to the bullet leaving his 30-inch barrel. Just a simple equation involving acceleration, terminal velocity, moment of inertia of the rifle and coefficient of friction of the bipod and rifle on the ground.

Download FREE Gun Talk Radio "Podcasts"

Tom Gresham’s Gun Talk is a popular, nationally-syndicated radio show. FYI, Tom Gresham will be broadcasting live from the NRA Annual Meeting in St. Louis, April 12-15, 2012. We enjoy listening to Gun Talk radio, but we’ve found that Gun Talk is not widely broadcast in some areas of the country, or the radio broadcast times are not convenient for listening. Recognizing this, Gun Talk has recorded many of its popular broadcasts and offered them for FREE as downloadable .MP3 audio files. These “podcast” files can be played by any inexpensive media player (such as the Apple Shuffle), and many current vehicle GPS units can play .MP3 files so you can now listen to Gun Talk in your car whenever you please.

PODCAST SAMPLE: CLICK HERE to download 3/25/2012 PodCast with Bill Gravatt of Sinclair Int’l.

Gun Talk’s podcasts were downloaded over 2 million times in 2011 — proving this is a smart way to access Gresham’s popular radio sessions. To download Gun Talk podcasts, go to www.guntalk.libsyn.com, and simply right-click on each particular file’s “POD” icon to download. The latest 2012 broadcasts are available along with complete archives for 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, and 2006. Just click any year/month on the left to access older broadcasts.
