German Boar Hunter Shows Rapid Fire Skills with Sauer 202
Check out this video of a young German hunter, Franz Albrecht Öttingen-Spielberg. Shooting off-hand with a Sauer 202 bolt action, he makes multiple kills on wild boar running at full speed. Half way through the video, a pack of boar crosses right to left, running fast. You need slow motion to see all Franz’s hits as he engages one animal after another. He doesn’t hit with every shot, but a quick count shows that nearly half his shots, fired rapid-fire from a standing position, were solid takedowns. Notice how Franz “leads” his prey, moving the muzzle from right to left along the animals’ path.
Slow-Mo Video Reveals Knock-Down Power of 7mm Rem Magnum
Near the beginning of the video, slow-motion footage reveals bullet trace, and the bullet’s impact on a running boar. The shot takes the boar right at the top of the shoulder and the animal goes down in a heap. This is impressive shooting. The video shows what is possible with a skilled marksmen, a powerful cartridge (7mm Rem Magnum), and an accurate, smooth-cycling bolt gun.

Man that guy can shoot. Its refreshing to see a guy cleanly taking game offhand in actual hunting conditions. I also like his rifle aside from the 8 shot mag which is warranted in this situation, his gun is clean. No huge scopes or bipods, that are on alot of my rifles. Great video thanks for posting. I got to go practice now:)
Thought I was pretty good until I saw this guy. Makes me look like I’ve got Arthritis, blind in one eye and can’t see out of the other. As Mark says..”I got to go practice now” Great video!!
That young man is a talented shooter! He sure does make a lot of work for the whole hunting party. That was 7 pigs shot in less time then it takes to talk about. I also may need to go out and practice!
what scope is that he using to make those great hits ?
Aimpoint 1x Hunter Sight
Will say it’s on his cap. Awesome Video.

Excellent video, nice shooting. I think he is using an Aimpoint H34L or maybe H30L.
I was under the impression that to obtain a hunting license in most European countries a shooter had to take a test on a running game target of some sort; if you did not score the correct hits they did not issue a license. This shooter shows real skill on moving targets;a similar test here would not be a bad idea as too many of us are lousy shooters when it involves a moving target. Let’s be honest: how many of us , me included, could do half as well as he did…..
I own and use a Sauer 202 it’s great to see someone use the rifle as it is designed for all my pig hunting is done off hand and possible because of the smooth action these rifle have well done on a excellent shoot/video
How is Sauer 202 compared to browning X bolt? Are they similar in performance?
Thx
I would like to point out that Franz does not use a 7mm rem mag as suggested above. He uses a .270.
I live in Europe and hunt here and yes for larger game (rifle game) we have to do a shooting test every year to be allowed to hunt larger game. I think that is pretty good actually. Anyways this man shoots very good, the wild boar run fast and you don’t have much time to waste. Good clip, good shooting and a good caliber 270 win. I bought the video and the remaining is great to watch as well. Incredible to see when he use 1 yard openings in the forest to shot running boar at distance.
Hi, I would like to ask you how do you know that this isn’t a 7mm rem mag , but a .270? Thanks Panagiotis.
If you buy the video, you’ll see at the beginning that he’s saying a few words about the gun. When doing so, he also mentions ammo and displays a box of 270 win RWS cartridges. Also, during the video you can see him reloading his magazines from the 270 win boxes.
Franz Albrecht said himself in an interview about him and his skills that he was shooting an 270 win which is not that common for driven game hunts
That is awesome shooting !
I thought franz albrecht used used a 7.5 caliber rifle e
