Sweeping Anti-Gun Legislation Enacted in California
California Governor Jerry Brown just departed for a luxurious European vacation. But before he left the state, he savaged the Second Amendment rights of millions of California gun owners. Less than 24 hours after they arrived on his desk, Brown signed six anti-gun bills railroaded through the Democratic-controlled California Legislature. Among the bills signed by Brown was SB 1446 which will require Californians to forfeit, destroy, or ship out of the state ALL firearms magazines that can hold more than ten rounds. Owners of legally-obtained magazines, previously “grandfathered”, will receive no compensation though they must give up their property. Those who fail to comply will be fined and charged with an infraction, a low-level crime. This magazine restriction goes into effect July 1, 2017.
Gov. Brown also signed SB 1235 which will require background checks for the purchase of any and all ammunition. Ammo buyers’ names and personal information will be logged and tracked in a database.
Notice from NSSF RE California Legislation
The NSSF issued this statement: “The National Shooting Sports Foundation is extremely disappointed that Gov. Brown today chose to sign into law these highly restrictive and unneeded gun control measures, all of which will affect law-abiding Californians while doing nothing to stop the criminal misuse of firearms. By acting within 24 hours after being sent these bills, and not allowing the public to voice their opinions in order to depart for his European vacation, the governor compounded the miscarriage of legislative process and procedure while demonstrating disdain for Californians who now face laws that clearly infringe on their Constitutional rights.”
Gov. Brown SIGNED the following bills into law:
AB 1135 (Levine) and SB 880 (Hall) Firearms: Assault Weapons – Expands the definition of assault weapons based on whether a semiautomatic firearm has a detachable magazine, banning thousands of popular firearms.
SB 1235 (de Leon) Ammunition – Requires authorization to purchase ammunition and track what and how much ammunition each person buys, creating a database of ammunition purchasers.
SB 1446 (Hancock) Firearms: Magazine Capacity – Makes it illegal to possess magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds no matter how long a person has owned them.
AB 1511 (Santiago) Firearms: Lending – Makes it illegal to loan a firearm to a person who is personally known to you (except for family members with restrictions).
AB 1695 (Bonta) Firearms: False Reports – Creates a 10-year prohibition on owning firearms for someone convicted of falsely reporting a lost or stolen firearm.
Gov. Brown VETOED the following bills:
SB 894 (Jackson) Firearms: Lost or Stolen: reports – Would have made it a crime not to report lost and stolen firearms to law enforcement within the arbitrary time limit.
AB 1673 (Gipson) Firearms: Unfinished frame or receiver – Would have expanded the definition of a firearm to include partially finished frames and receivers (no definition of what this means) and require their registration.
AB 1674 (Santiago) Firearms: Transfers – Would have made it illegal to buy or receive more than one firearm in any 30-day period.

I hope they post all their new laws in Arabic and Espanol so all the radical Islamists and criminal wetbacks will know to comply….Are these politicians really this stupid, or are they just forcing socialism?
The standard strategy of terrorism is to cause enough fear among a populace to motivate more control of their government. By the way, it works.
But in America, politicians are far more evil than terrorists, and the populace is gutless, so it plays out just opposite.
Supposed acts of ‘terrorism’ provide politicians the ammo needed to further control and harm their populace.
It’s actually aiding to our government instead of opposing.
This Politerrorism defeats us daily, but it didn’t just begin. It’s been going on for a long time. That we’re check-mated is just so difficult to dismiss -now.
And as has been the case on most issues, the NRA will do zero in the state of California.
Perhaps Californians should file criminal charges against those who signed this legislation.
How can one SOB decide what ok for the law abiding citizens of California?
this kind of crap has to stop!!!
In response to lee and others who don’t live here; we have single-party rule. Control of both houses, the Governor’s office, and the Federal 9th Circuit. They can, quite literally, do absolutely anything they want, and that’s exactly what they are doing. Next year is expected to be worse.
What was not mentioned in this article regarding SB 1235 is the supposed “ban” on Internet sales. As I read the text of the legislation, Internet sales are NOT banned entirely. They can still occur if done THRU an “authorized ammunition vendor”. I’m concluding that from this text:
“30364. (a) The sale, delivery, or transfer of ammunition may only occur in a face-to-face transaction with the seller, deliverer, or transferor being provided bona fide evidence of identity from the purchaser or other transferee, provided, however, that ammunition may be purchased over the Internet or through other means of remote ordering if an ammunition vendor in this state initially receives the ammunition and processes the transfer in compliance with this article, Article 3 (commencing with Section 30345), and Article 4 (commencing with Section 30355). An ammunition vendor is required to promptly and properly process those transactions. An ammunition vendor may charge a fee to process the transfer not to exceed ten dollars ($10) per transaction. An ammunition vendor is not required to house ammunition orders longer than 30 days.” This was copied from https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billCompareClient.xhtml?bill_id=201520160SB1235
Confusing to me is the repeated use of this introductory text in the “LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL’S DIGEST” – that digest title appears immediately below this heading/line, “[Approved by Governor July 01, 2016. Filed with Secretary of State July 01, 2016.]”
“The proposed Safety for All Act of 2016, to be submitted to the voters at the November 8, 2016, statewide general election, if enacted would…” – how is this law if the associated Act has yet to be voted on?
If you want to read the text of this legislation, see https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=201520160SB1235
I’d ignore the laws. They can’t keep you in jail forever. Always remember who screwed you.
It would appear that the anti-gunners are achieving their goal of nation-wide gun control by acting in only a few states at a time, rather than all-at-once nationally.By disarming the country a few states at a time, the less likely that they would face a public uprising (armed) by the entire country at one time…divide and conquer. Those of us in gun-friendly states will eventually find ourselves outnumbered and surrounded by anti-gun states. To retin our gun rights we must remain united. As ben Franklin said, “we must hang together, for surely we will all hang”.
A victory for the terrorists, im sure they are pleased.
It’s a sad day for humanity when logic is beaten by fear. Then again, this is just an example of California sucking just a little bit more every day.

Guy -Actually ISIS already encourages mass shooting style attacks in the USA precisely because in their words we are a country “awash in easily accessible weapons”.
