CDNN Investments is a large retailer that acquires overstock inventories of rifles, shotguns, and pistols, as well as shooting accessories. You can often purchase brand new rifles for 50% to 70% of the original retail price. And this includes major brands such as Browning, Remington, Ruger, T/C, and Winchester. Just released, CDNN’s latest catalog includes great deals on FN (Winchester M70-type) actions with scope rail and box magazine ($349.99, p.33), Ruger No. 1s ($699.99, p.35), and T/C Icon hunting rifles (starting at $499.99, p.40).
CLICK HERE to download the latest catalog (29.2 megabyte PDF file).
We found some great deals in the new CDNN catalog. Hunters should check out the Winchester m70 Super Shadow package. Complete with a composite stock and Simmons 3-9x40mm scope, this light-weight (6 lb.), 7mm WSM hunting rifle is just $389.99 (catalog, p.39). A complete elk-hunting rig for under $400 is a bargain.

Hunters or target shooters who travel by air should consider the Browning 4-gun Travel Case (catalog, p.121). This torpedo-shaped container holds up to four (4) long-guns in soft bags. Airline-approved, these Browning cases are quite durable. Their 4-gun capacity lets you avoid expensive baggage surcharges. If you’re headed out on a varmint hunt with multiple rifles, this is a good option. Regularly priced at $120.00, the Browning Airline case is just $49.99.

Owners of Sigarms SSG 3000 and Sauer 200 series rifles should act quickly. The complete factory 22 rimfire Conversion Kit, normally $2000.00, is on sale at CDNN for just $799.99 (catalog, p.98). This Kit includes bolt, magazine adapter, and 22LR barrel. CLICK HERE for a previous Daily Bulletin report showing this conversion in a Sauer 202 rifle. It is a very slick system that lets you use your normal stock, action, and trigger. Grab it at this price.

Here is a useful, FREE program that will convert MS Word documents, Excel files, or Powerpoint presentations into universal .PDF (Adobe Acrobat) documents. Today only, September 24, 2009, the PDF Tiger program is FREE for the downloading (regular price is $29.95).
Who needs this kind of program? Well, if you prepare club newsletters or match reports, it’s a good idea to publish .PDF versions of your documents on the web. Additionally, if you have a gunsmithing or parts business with technical documents, you’ll want to offer .PDF versions of important files, such as price lists or installation instructions. Also, if you host shooting matches or clinics, you can provide .PDF versions of sign-up sheets and match rules. The benefit of .PDF (Acrobat) files is that they can be read by anyone with a web browser and the FREE Adobe Acrobat plug-in; also .PDF files can be easily scaled for printing. You could create a target in Powerpoint, for example, then save as a .PDF file for printing.
CLICK HERE to download PDF Tiger. (FREE today only. NOTE: The download comes with a help file listing a license key for full use. For the key to work, You MUST install the program before midnight 9/24 when the offer runs out.)
In addition to converting Word or Excel documents to .pdf files, PDF Tiger can also convert .PDF files into editable MS Word Documents, Rich Text Documents, Plain Text Files, Images, HTML Files, and Shockwave Flash SWF Files. MidwayUSA just launched its re-designed website. We think most of the changes are for the good. First, the search function is simpler and faster (though a bit hard to see as the search field is the same color as the background). We typed in “Lapua 6mmBR” and instantly found the Lapua 6mmBR brass we wanted.
You’ll find handy Quick Links at the bottom middle of the home page. These simple hyperlinks allow you to quickly navigate to particular product types, such as “Bullets”, “Bipods”, “Reloading Dies”, and “Rifle Scopes”. We also like the way general product categories can be accessed via a horizontal menu at the top. Just under the MidwayUSA logo you’ll find tabs for “Shooting”, “Reloading”, “Gunsmithing”, Hunting”, “Optics”, and “Ammunition”. There’s also a red “Clearance” tab that provides one-click access to some of the best bargains on the site.

Weekly and Monthly Specials are found on the left, below the “Featured Promotions”. We recommend you check the Weekly Specials regularly. Rather than poor-selling clearance items, Weekly Specials are often very popular products that have been temporarily discounted 15-20% in price. For example, this week, Wipe-Out Foam Bore Cleaner is on sale at $8.49, marked down from $9.99 (a 15% savings).

Here’s a very good deal if you’re looking for a quality zoom optic for a varmint rifle. Natchez Shooters Supply currently has the Sightron SII 6.5-20X42mm zoom scope on sale for just $299.99. While not the “latest or the greatest”, this is a good optic that has reliable tracking and precise front parallax/focus control. For most daylight conditions, even at 20-power, the 42mm objective will give you a nice, bright picture, though the exit pupil will be smaller than on a scope with a 50mm or larger front objective.

The Sightron SII 6.5-20×42, Natchez product SH200198, weighs just 2.11 lbs, and comes with a standard duplex reticle. Click values are 1/8-MOA. We’d prefer 1/4-MOA clicks for a varmint scope, but this does give you extra-precise adjustments. The nitrogen-filled SII scope body is waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof. A screw-in sunshade is included, and the scope is covered by the Sightron Lifetime Warranty.

Many reloaders are now using precision digital scales that can measure down to a single kernel of powder. These scales, such as the Denver Instrument MXX-123, are remarkable measuring systems, but you can’t expect them to perform optimally with inconsistent electrical output from a wall socket. We’ve seen the line voltage in some houses vary from 95 to 160 volts. That kind of fluctuation can damage sensitive electronics. A line conditioner can help you get the most from your digital scales and electronic powder dispensers. The line conditioner takes the “juice” from the outlet and actively corrects the voltage to provide a constant 120 volts AC to your machines.
Forum member Danny Reever explains: “We have talked before about the need for surge protection and line conditioning for sensitive electronic equipment like scales and powder dispensers. However the price of said equipment is perhaps a turn-off for a lot of guys.”
Thanks to Danny, now our readers can afford a heavy-duty, high-performance line conditioner/surge protector. Reever has found a quality line conditioner from APC, a well-known manufacturer, at a bargain price — Just $99.99. The APC H10, 1000VA unit is rated for 1000 Watts (continuous). The APC device automatically steps up low voltage and steps down high voltage to levels that are suitable for your equipment. The APC H10 also provides noise filtering and industrial-grade surge protection. Selling elsewhere for $275.00, the APC H10 1000VA is now available for just $99.99 from Tiger Direct.
CLICK HERE for $99.99 APC Line Conditioner (on Sale for Limited Time).
Danny tells us: “This is a real deal for 4900 joules surge protection. The unit weighs a hefty 16.1 pounds and measures 17″ wide X 9.5″ deep. I received mine yesterday and all I can say is $99.99 buys you one nice piece of equipment. It’s built like a tank for worry free and better component performance.”

Louisiana has adopted a program we’d like to see state governments copy nationwide. From September 4th through 6th (Fri-Sun), Louisiana shoppers can buy guns, ammo, and hunting supplies without paying a penny of sales tax. The Sales Tax Holiday is authorized by a new Louisiana statute that waives gun-related sales and use taxes each year on the first consecutive Friday through Sunday in September. Now that’s a “stimulus program” all shooters can support.
The sales tax holiday will take place Friday, September 4, through Sunday, September 6, pursuant to the Louisiana Second Amendment Weekend Holiday Act. This law (Act 453 of the Regular Session of the 2009 Louisiana Legislature) provides a three-day exemption from state and local sales and use taxes on consumer purchases of firearms, ammunition, and hunting supplies.

Business Purchases Still Taxed
During Louisiana’s Sales Tax Holiday weekend, the sales and use tax levied by the state and its political subdivisions shall not apply to any consumer purchases (by individuals) of firearms, ammunition and hunting supplies. However, sales and use taxes will still be due on business purchases of guns and ammo. Also sales tax will still apply to sales of animals used for hunting purposes .
