New Polymer AR15 Lower Receiver from ATI
American Tactical Imports (ATI) has introduced its new ATI Omni Lower Receiver, a multi-caliber AR15 lower made of reinforced polymer. Since it was designed to milspec dimensions, ATI claims the Omni polymer lower is compatible with most current AR15 lower parts kits, grips and stocks. ATI says the durable polymer material “can withstand harsh environments as well as everyday wear and tear.” The Omni lower will be available as either a stripped lower, OR a complete finished kit including all lower internal parts and collapsible stock. ATI claims the Omni lower has tested reliably with .22 LR, 5.56×45 (.223 Rem), and .410 but is “not recommended for larger calibers“.
The Omni stripped lower has an MSRP of just $49.95 while the complete finished kit has an MSRP of $129.95. The Omni lower comes in either black or dark earth colors. The .22LR version is available now. The .223 (5.56) version is slated for release in August, 2012, and a .410 version will be offered in the fall. Editor’s NOTE: This story is based on a press release by ATI. We have not examined or tested the product. Accordingly we can give no opinions as to fit/function, durability or safety. Likewise, we cannot venture an opinion as to whether the ATI Polymer lower would be legal in restrictive jurisdictions such as California. Nonetheless, this is an interesting technology that may prove useful in some applications. For example, the inexpensive ATI lower could work well with the Crosman MAR177 AR15 Airgun Upper, keeping total system cost down.

very interesting and a great price.
Seems too cheap to me, but I guess plastic isn’t as expensive to injection mold as aluminum is to machine. I wonder if there is any metal reinforced areas to withstand of the the repeatedly moved areas, pins, bolt release and such.
There’s not point to this. But people buy this garbage like crazy. It will sell for sure.
If you like the idea of a cheap, lightweight polymer receiver, you might want to consider New Frontier Armory’s version too (http://www.lw15.com/).
i have the lw15genII polymer lower withan RGUNS m4 5.56 upper and it is a great gun, i would get one of these anyday over a stamped or milled reciever. people complain about polymer but glock has been doing it for years and nobody calls them cheap… i have put over 6000 rounds through it (all different brands) and this thing still performs like the it did with the first magazine…
I know a lot of people don’t like the idea of polymer guns, but if done right, I think their a good a idea.
Look at HK and Glock. They are some of the most respected companies in the firearm community and they build a lot of their guns out of polymer.
The HK Mark 23 can withstand some of the harshest torture and shines even though it’s made out polymer.
My dad just bought a NFA LW15 lower and I really like it! The finish and fit is fantastic. I’m considering buying one. If the ATI OMNI is anything like NFA, then I say go for it.
I have been custom building AR15’s for some years now and thought I give these ATI lower polymer’s a try(now that it’s tough to find the Alum one’s), and over all am impressed by them. The quality is very good, they are made of a super tough type polymer, have a very hard surface feel. I wonder if these are made of Makrolon. Final assembly is on the tight side but this is even stated on the ATI site because it’s better to need to remove a little material to make a better fit than have a loose fit and no fix. Was even suprised the color is a very good match with the upper color on the Alum material of my PSA’s. So over all suprised and impressed, will buy more if I can find any more.
Check out this new 80% polymer lower awesome look, quality and pricing, even comes with it’s own machining jig included in the price.
