U.S. F-Open Team Hardware Choices
Are you trying to decide what components to use for your next F-Class build, or are you looking to upgrade your current rig? Wonder what the “big dogs” in the sport have selected as their hardware? Here’s what United States F-Open team members are using. The most popular chambering is the .284 Winchester, followed by the 7mm Walker (a 40° .284 Winchester Improved). Kelbly and BAT actions are the most popular, and nearly all team members are using cut-rifled barrels. A wide variety of stocks are used, with PR&T holding a slight edge over second-place McMillan.
Story Tip from Dominion of Canada Rifle Association.
What is the 7 Walker?
Filippo
Interesting list with lots of familiar names. The Bartlein barrels have really come on,,in Palma as well.
Filippo, Good question, What is the 7mm Walker. Ive never heard of it. Hard to believe its second most popular.
OK, found this. Looks like a AI .284 of sorts….7mm Walker, It is essentially a .284 with the side walls slightly straightened up and a 40 degree shoulder.
7mm Walker is basically a .284 Shehane with a 40 degree shoulder.
What about optics?
2nd what type of sights do they use
Optics was kinda pointless so I did not include it. We are almost 100% Nightforce.
Would you say that March was the second in scope choice?
I guess this lets the Walker secret out.
Given the current state of promotional activity, I would have thought BAT and Kreiger would be number one in their categories.
Which Bartlein barrel, 4 groove or 5R are they shooting?
Have a Broughton 5C barrel om the palma rifle and its a great shooter. Refuses to copper foul. Velocity comes easy without pressure.

Which Nightforce models are being used?
So many questions…
Which BAT action?
What bullet(s)?
What barrel configuration (heavy varmint, M24, etc.)?
What powder?
What primers?
Which brass?
What velocities?
Looks like some of my other questions are being answered (scope, stock, extras)
Thanks for the info.
P.S… Why 40° on the 7mm Walker? I was told that 37° was optimal for case efficiency.
