This week’s Shooting USA episode has two great features. Part One covers the USPSA Multi-Gun Nationals, a 3-gun match with fast action. A lengthy second sequence covers new guns and gear at the 2019 NRA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. USPSA Multi-Gun Nationals
If you are a fan of 3-Gun competition, tune in to Shooting USA this week. The latest episode features the 2019 USPSA Multi-Gun Nationals held in Florida. You can see many of the nation’s top 3-Gun shooters attacking some very challenging stages with pistols, rifles, and shotguns.

Multi-gun competition has evolved considerably since it started 30 years ago. The firearms are more sophisticated, the optics are better, and the stage times are much faster. Still, the challenge remains the same: How fast can you shoot multiple targets, with the score determined by speed and accuracy? For the best in the sport, the answer is very fast indeed…
New Products for 2019 — Guns, Optics, Electronics and More
Shooting USA was in Indianapolis for the 2019 NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits. At the big event, Shooting USA’s teams found some interesting new products, such as Hornady’s pricey new A-Tip bullets ($80 to $90 per 100), and new handguns from Colt, Smith & Wesson, and Volquartsen. Hornady also displayed a new Kestrel 5700 Meter with advanced 4DOF Ballistic Solver.

It’s Friday, April 26, 2019 so the 148th NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits opens today at 9:00 am! The event runs through Sunday, April 28th. The NRA Convention features over 800 exhibitors, along with seminars, workshops, special events, and an appearance by President Trump. The NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits takes place at the Indianapolis Convention Center, with some major events nearby at the Lucas Oil Stadium and J.W. Marriott Grand Ballroom.

The 2019 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, April 25-28, 2019. At this event, the NRA’s 148th annual convention, you’ll find 15 acres of guns and gear. There will be plenty to see and do — you can talk to hunting outfitters, attend seminars, dine at banquets, listen to top national political leaders, and enjoy country music concerts. If you’ve never been to an NRA Convention before, it’s worth going — just to see all the rifles, pistols, optics, and shooting accessories. Everything else is a bonus. The venue is the Indianapolis Convention Center at 100 South Capitol Ave., Indianapolis, IN 45225.

The National NRA Foundation BBQ & Auction will be held Thursday, April 25 at 5:00 pm in the Lucas Oil Stadium. The NRA-ILA Leadership Forum take place April 26th also in the Lucas Oil Stadium. The Annual National Firearms Law Seminar, the largest gathering of Second Amendment attorneys in the country, runs Friday morning, April 26 at the Hyatt Regency. Glock has hired Chuck Norris. We kid you not. And, no, this isn’t an April Fools joke. Austrian pistol-maker Glock has hired tough-guy actor Chuck Norris as a spokesman. His first appearance for Glock will be at the NRA Convention in Indianapolis, IN on April 26-27. We expect there will be a huge line at the Glock booth, with show visitors hoping to meet Chuck and get his autograph. Now 79 years old, Chuck Norris served in the U.S. Air Force and then became a champion martial artist, actor, film producer, and philanthropist.
While we like Chuck Norris, and we appreciate his commitment to the Second Amendment, we wonder about this kind of endorsement. Will this really sell more Glocks? The Austrian company faces stiff competition these days from Smith & Wesson, SIG Sauer, Ruger, Walther, and even Taurus. Glock might be better off putting the Chuck Norris endorsement budget back into engineering.
In any case, here are highlights from the official announcement from Glock:

[Glock has hired] legendary world champion martial artist, actor, producer, philanthropist and entrepreneur Chuck Norris as the company Spokesperson.

For many, the NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits is all about the Second Amendment and politics. For others, the main appeal is the Exhibit Hall, with its countless firearm displays and outfitter booths. There will be lots to see this year in Dallas, but just about the most fun you can have at the NRA Convention will be at the Pyramyd Air shooting gallery.
 Pyramyd’s Air Gun Range was a hit last year in Atlanta and is set to be a top destination for the entire family at the 147th NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits in Dallas, Texas. With 16 stations and more than 200 hundred interactive targets, the range will provide shooters of all ages the chance to try out some of the newest and best airguns available. From entry-level break-barrels to high-end, precision air rifles and target pistols, there will be a full range of options.
One NRA range officer noted: “If you see a long line there [at the Dallas Convention Center], odds are that it’s for the air gun range. We have boys and girls, moms and dads, everyone waiting to plink the day away.”
The Air Gun Range is not just for youngsters. Adults can have fun too.
The Pyramyd Air Air Gun range will operate in the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. We expect it will operate Thursday (May 3) from 2:00 to 6:00 pm; on Friday and Saturday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm; and on Sunday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. But schedule is subject to change.
At the Air Gun Range, you’ll find air rifles and air pistols from: Air Arms, Air Force, Air Venturi, Ataman, Beeman, Browning, BSA, Colt, Crosman, Diana, Kral Arms, SIG Sauer, Umarex USA, and Walther.

The first-ever NRA Carry Guard Expo was held August 25-27, 2017 at the Wisconsin Center in Milwaukee. More than 14,000 visitors attend the Expo, billed as the ultimate assembly of education, training, and products dedicated to concealed carry, personal protection, and home defense. While this is not a handgun-focused website, we know that many of our readers have carry permits, and probably the vast majority own a pistol or two.
At the Expo, over 160 Exhibitors displayed their latest product lines for concealed carry, personal protection and home defense. The exhibit floor spread across nearly 100,000 square feet of the Wisconsin Center.
The Carry Guard Expo hosted 124 seminars with more than 6,400 guests participating in a variety of teaching/learning sessions. Seminar topics included: home defense, active threat protection, concealed carry tactics and much more.
Concealed Carry Permit Seminar
One Expo highlight was a seminar which covered the Utah Concealed Carry Weapon Course. Utah’s Concealed Carry Permit is now recognized in 60% of the USA, with 33 other states granting reciprocity. Seminar participants who completed the course left the Expo with enhanced abilities to protect themselves while traveling. The 4-hour seminar was hosted by Dave Matthews.
Many experts consider the Heckler & Koch P7m8 one of the very best carry pistols ever. On HK’s famous fixed-barrel “squeeze-cocker”, the striker is cocked by squeezing the grip, and then de-cocked when pressure on the grip is released.
