In looking at the video, I noticed that he does not agree with the usual advice on how breathing while taking a shot should be done. Since I have personally gotten that advice from shooters of known accomplishment, it makes me wonder about his qualifications, and how his method is different from theirs. It also makes me wonder about how the accuracy required to do well in tactical matches stacks up against what is needed for high power and F class.

About Frank Galli

Boyd, the tactical rifle really need to be on par with a good f-o rifle as far as accuracy potential, sure you can get in the game with less, but when trying to brake into the top 10 consistently you should really be capable of 1/4moa accuracy. Many of the targets in tactical matches are relatively small and gaining first round hits is essential to win matches. Spotting misses in dirt burms is essential and that is why many of the tac shooters choose smaller cartradges. You wont see many 284s and 7 short mags winning true tac matches. We give up some BC with the 6 and 6.5s but recoil managment is key when you need fast follow up shots and control during awkward positional stages. As an example I was at a match where we were given 7 seconds to hit 3 targets at 440 yards targets were between 1 and 1.25 moa. About 10% of the shooters cleaned the stage. An example from last week-end, we shot off a railing at 1000 yard 66% IPSC. stability was compromised compared to bipod prone shooting so knowing your gun can hold 1/4-3/8moa gives you some “wiggle room” to work with your sight movement and the wind condition.
Relaxed control becomes the shooters friend. Concentration while not tightening up makes for better shooting. Nothing else but you and your technique when you pull the trigger.
