I know these are sale prices but I wonder just how expensive primers and powder will become in the next couple of years.
Last month I bought 18,000 primers (15,000 Federal small rifle AR match, 3000 Remington Small Rifle) and these are the first primers I bought since 2015. In 2015 and in the years hence, I could not find primers and if I did there was a limit of 1000 at a local store or on the net a limit of 2000 + hazmat+ shipping+ sales tax which made everything too expensive to buy. In 2019 I started buying powder and I’m glad I did. I was able to buy VitaVourhi for about 30 bucks a pound with hazmat, shipping and sales tax. Now, V V is anywhere from 45 to 60 dollars a pound. And that is before hazmat, shipping and sales taxes.
At which point will reloading and competition in general become too expensive? I will be shooting High power next summer (that is why I have been buying in bulk) and I wonder how many years I will be able to afford reloading my ammo. Yes, I know reloading is less expensive than using premium match but when you consider how many hours you spend making your own premium ammo, you begin to wonder if it is worth the time and the expense.
