AccurateShooter.com sends our best holiday wishes to our many readers worldwide. (According to Google Analytics, over 50,000 shooters worldwide access our site every week.) To make the holiday season a little more festive, we found a promotion that will give you FREE Beck’s BEER. That’s right, if you pay for a six-pack of Beck’s beer, the brewers will refund your purchase price up to $9.00*.

What’s the catch? You have to purchase the beer first, then mail in your sales receipt, the barcode (UPC) label from the package, and a Rebate Form. Mail-in deadline is 1/19/2009. Also, in some states the offer is not valid (Sorry Guys… complain to your state legislators). But otherwise, this is a bonafied deal. Free beer for the holidays… what’s not to like?
CLICK HERE for more info on Beck’s Beer Rebate
*Via mail-in rebate. Rebate amount will be equivalent to purchase price, excluding sales tax, not to exceed $9.00. Purchase must occur between 12/8/08-1/5/09. We’ve been impressed by some of the special sales at Cabelas.com. Here are some of the hottest deals we’ve found at Cabelas.com. Click the “Hot Buys” link at left to get the lowest prices.

Camelback Hydration Pack, $29.99
Cabela’s has posted an amazing price on the Camelbak GMI M.U.L.E. pack with hydration system, item 1AJ-518787. Right now the Camelbak M.U.L.E. is just $29.99. These are very high-quality packs that sell elsewhere for $95.00 or more. The hydration pack is offered in desert camo or woodland camo. The pack is 19″ x 10″ x 5″, and features 540 cubic inches of cargo space with a 100-ounce Omega Water reservoir.

Browning® Tactical Hunter/Renegade Light Combo, $24.99
This is a great two-lamp deal for a lot less than you’d expect to pay for a Xenon tactical lamp by itself. The 10-lumen Renegade Headlamp (top) boasts five LEDs (two white, two red and one green) making it ideal for close-up lighting. Use this outdoors, when working on a car, or for extra illumination in your workroom. The rugged, Tactical Hunter Flashlight features a high-output, 80 lumen, Xenon lamp. It includes a belt clip and armored end-grip. Two included lithium batteries provide up to 1.5 hours of illumination. |

Call it “paranoia” or call it “sensible preparation”, gun owners nationwide have been stocking-up on ammunition and loading components, particularly for .223 Rem and .308 Winchester. This has created shortages in supply, with the predictable price increases. Fortunately, Grafs.com has large supplies of Lake City .223 Rem Brass. This is good quality stuff, made by Federal at the Lake City ammo plant. The .223 Rem brass starts at $22.99 per hundred. If you’re looking for loaded ammo, Grafs.com has the excellent Prvi Partizan .223 Rem 75gr HPBT match ammo for $10.99 per 20-ct box (item PPA223MATCH). Forum members have tested this ammo in fast-twist .223 barrels and found that it shoots very well.

Grafs.com also has PRIMED Federal Lake City .308 Win Brass starting at $39.99 per hundred.

We’re pleased that Creedmoor Sports (among other vendors), has started carrying the Howard Leight, noise-cancelling “Impact Sport” ear-muffs. This is a good product, that works well, yet costs hundreds of dollars less that many other electronic muffs on the market. The compact, folding design makes storage convenient. Forum member Danny Reever reports: “Off the firing line, while others are shooting, you can easily carry on a conversation while the electronics cancel out the gunfire. Amplification is crisp and clear even at the highest setting. On the firing line, the muffs are comfortable and the slim profile of the muffs does not interfere with cheek weld.”
The Howard Leight Muffs’ 350-hour battery life is excellent and we like the auto shut-off feature, and external audio plug (if you want to listen to music). There is a single switch for both on/off and volume with an automatic 4-hour shutoff to help to extend battery life. The external battery compartment holds two AAA batteries, which are included.

Creedmoor currently sells the Howard Leight Impact Sport model shown above, for $69.99. The Impact Sport muffs have a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 22. You can increase the effective NRR by using foam plugs under the muffs.

The Midsouth Shooters Supply special Christmas Sale Flyer has been released. It contains some killer deals. We suggest you guys download the flyer and check it out.

Here are some of the interesting bargains we found:
Duraseal Polymer Spinning Varmint Targets, $12.59-$24.37
Economical, lightweight product that’s ideal for long-range practice. We like reactive targets, and these units provide the instant visual feedback we like. The animal part of the target stands up to multiple hits well, but you better not shoot the hoop frame.
Leatherman Skeletool, $59.95
Typical retail is about $80.00. Check out our previous Skeletool Review. This is a very neat product — one of the best “multi-tools” on the market. This Editor bought one for a relative who is a part-time ski guide and he loves it.
Lyman DPS Upgrade Kit, $20.60
This inexpensive, drop-in upgrade will boost the performance of the first- and second-generation Lyman DPSI or DPSII electronic powder dispensers to equal the speed of the latest DPS 3. The Upgrade kit will double the dispensing speed with some powders.

Cooper Safety Supply offers quality Howard Leight earplugs at great prices. These plugs taper at the inboard end, and flare on the outside for better noise seal. Comfortable to wear, the Leight “Max” earplugs offer an outstanding -33db sound reduction rating. We like the “Max 30″ corded version because they stay around your neck when removed and they are much more difficult to misplace. The basic (uncorded) Max plugs are on sale–just $26.40 for 200 pairs. The corded Max plugs are just $24.97 for 100 pairs. That’s still a great deal as most gunshops charge $1.00 per pair. Earplugs are great “stocking stuffers” for all your shooting friends, or you could purchase a couple hundred for your local shooting club.

MidwayUSA is running some good bargains this month. For starters, MidwayUSA has announced a huge sale on Leupold VX-III scopes. (Midsouth Shooters Supply and Grafs.com are also offering specials on Leupolds currently.) Check MidwayUSA product listings for discounts up to $140.00. Here are sale prices on some popular models:
Leupold VX-III EFR Target Scope Adj. Obj. 6.5-20x40mm
Fine Duplex Matte, Product 468522, $529.99 marked down from $669.99.
Leupold VX-III Rifle Scope 4.5-14x40mm
Duplex Reticle Matte, Product 588146, $429.99 marked down from $529.99.
Leupold VX-III Rifle Scope 3.5-10x40mm
Duplex Reticle Matte, Product 385745, $399.99 marked down from $479.99.
Lapua Brass and Budget Items Discounted Also
You’ll find particularly good prices right now on nearly the whole line-up of Lapua brass. 6mmBR brass is $69.99 (discounted from $77.99) while and .308 Win brass is just $60.99/100, marked down from $67.99. There are some cheaper sources for Lapua brass, such as Bruno Shooters Supply, but this is a good deal for MidwayUSA.
Other “stocking-stuffer” reloading accessories are on sale. Frankford Arsenal Digital Calipers are marked down to $19.99. That’s a great deal on very functional calipers… not the best mind you, but perfectly acceptable as a back-up set. These are currently out of stock, but MidwayUSA expects more inventory 12/15 and the $19.99 price is good through the end of the year. Also through Dec. 31st, 22-caliber BoreSnakes are marked down from $14.99 to $12.99. While we much prefer (and recommend) cleaning with a one-piece rod and good bore guide, the BoreSnake is a useful “field expedient” cleaning device. It is particularly useful for AR15s and for rifles with enclosed receivers which cannot use a breech-entry cleaning rod.
December 3rd, 2008
Now through December 8, 2008 (at midnight), Cabela’s is offering a heck of a deal. Buy anything in the store totalling at least $100.00, and Cabela’s will deduct $20.00 from the final cost. Yep, that even applies to sale items and “Bargain Cave” items. Is there a catch? Yes, you can only use this offer one time (so you can’t do multiple hundred-dollar orders to get multiple $20 savings.)
To qualify for this offer, click the link below. Enter an email address. Cabela’s will send you an e-mail with your Cabela’s Buck Rebate Number and Code. Supply this code when you “check-out” with your purchase.

What to Get for $100.00?
Consider purchasing some Black Hills remanufactured .223 Rem ammo. This is the same ammunition the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit uses in 600-yard matches. Very accurate, it can produce 2″ groups at 300 meters in accurized match rifles. The Black Hills “Blue Box” ammo comes 50 rounds per box. Black Hills offers a variety of .223 Rem loads from 52 grains to 77 grains. Loaded with 69gr Sierra MatchKings, the Black Hills ammo is $39.99 per box of 50. You could purchase three (3) boxes, and your total cost (after $20.00 rebate) would be $99.97 (not including shipping).

Leupold has announced that the VX-III Series of scopes will be discontinued. A new optics line (with enhanced features) will be introduced in 2009 and will be called the VX-3. The new features are not yet known, but in the meantime, you’ll find big discounts on current Leupold VX-III optics at major vendors.

Midsouth Shooters Supply has deeply discounted its 2008 Leupold VX-III models. VX-IIIs are now Clearance Items marked down as much as 15%. Midsouth tells us: “Our inventory is limited and will not be restocked until the the New 2009 models are out.” Below is a sample of discounted Leupold VX-III scopes at Midsouth.

Leupold VX-III scopes are also on sale now at Cabelas.com, Grafs.com, and The Optic Zone.

The first shopping day after the Thanksgiving holiday is called “Black Friday”. Here are some hot deals from major vendors. With some of these items inventory is very limited or the price is discounted for a very short period, so act quickly if you want to snap up these bargains.

$22.95 Russ Haydon “Two-Handed” Lapping Kit
If you’ve ever used a lapping bar with one central handle, you know it can be a little awkward. The force tends to concentrate in the middle, which can allow uneven lapping if you’re not careful. Russ Haydon has come up with a “better mousetrap” — a lapping bar with handles at both ends. The “Web Special” price is $22.95. Two handles provide more control so lapping can be done more efficiently. Haydon’s Twin-Handle Lapping Kit contains enough lapping compound for approximately 6 rifles. This fits 1″-diameter rings only.

$289.99 Nikon 4.5-14×40 Side-Focus Scope from Grafs.com
Grafs.com has the Nikon 4.5-14x40mm Buckmaster sidefocus scope with Plex reticle (item NI6452) on sale for $289.99. This is a good hunting/varmint scope with 1/4-MOA clicks, side-focus parallax, and quick-focus eyepiece. The Nikon comes with a lifetime warranty, and it is guaranteed waterproof, fogproof and shockproof. With a $480 MSRP, we’ve seen this same scope at other vendors for up to $409.00.

$688 Liberty Safe from Sam’s Club
Sam’s Club is offering one of the best deals in gun safes right now — a 60″ H x 30″ W x 22″ L Liberty Centurian safe for $688.00. That is the store pick-up price. The safe weighs 520 lbs. and has 23 cubic feet of exterior volume. Walls are 12 gauge steel and the safe is fire-rated for 30 minutes at 1200 degrees F. The lock is a Sargent & Greenleaf electronic. While this editor favors mechanical locks, the S&G lock is one of the best units in its price range. This very same safe is sold by Liberty Dealers for $999-$1099.00. If you’re able to get this safe home on your own, this is an excellent value from a respected safe-builder.

Prvi Partizan .223 Ammo from Wideners.com
At a time when many vendors are ratcheting up the price of ammunition to meet a surge in demand, Wideners is still offering the outstanding Prvi Partizan 75gr .223 Rem Match ammo at $85.00 for 200 rounds or $419.00 for 1000 rounds. This ammo, Wideners product PPU75H, is excellent. After testing the 75gr Partizan .223 ammo, Forum member Danny Reever concluded it was very accurate and an extremely good value. Based on reports from Danny and other shooters, we believe this ammo will easily shoot 1 MOA in a typical AR-platform rifle with a decent barrel. A 1:8″ or faster twist barrel is required to stabilize the 75gr bullets.
