SHOT Show is one of the biggest trade shows of the year among ALL industries. This year there are thousands of exhibitors spread out over two exhibit halls the combined size of 14 football fields! Thankfully a number of YouTubers have been working hard, finding interesting new products in the miles of aisles. Today we feature some notable videos from SHOT Show 2025, along with some cool product reports — leading off with Lapua’s announcement that it will be producing 6mm Dasher brass this year. That earned high praise from our Shooters Forum members.
Tikka T3x Ace Competition Rifles and T1x Rimfire Rifle
The new Tikka T3x Ace rifles works great for both hunting or match PRS/NRL use. They are chambered in .308 Win and 6.5 Creedmoor. We like the Tikka’s smooth-running action and very nice, crisp trigger. For rimfire competition, consider the Tikka T1x .22 LR match rifle. This features customizable chassis, heavy barrel, single stage trigger and 20 MOA Picatinny rail. Prices for both centerfire and rimfire Tikka rifles are quite reasonable compared to a custom build. You can get great deals on Tikka rifles from leading vendor EuroOptic.com. CLICK HERE for EuroOptic Tikka Rifle Sale.
New 6mm Dasher and 7mm PRC Brass Coming from Lapua
Great news — Lapua is releasing top-quality 6mm Dasher Cartridge Brass later this year. The 6mm Dasher is one of the most successful and popular cartridges for mid-range benchrest competition, and it is also now very popular with PRS/NRL shooters because of its superb accuracy and relatively low recoil. It’s a great varmint cartridge as well. The 6mm Dasher cartridge is inherently accurate and load development is relatively easy with known accuracy nodes with 103-108gr bullets. We are delighted that Dasher brass will finally be available from Lapua in the fall of 2025.
We were also pleased to see Lapua will be offering 7mm PRC Cartridge Brass later this year. The 7mm PRC can efficiently drive the heaviest .284-caliber projectiles. This gives F-Open competitors and long-range hunters a great new brass option. When teamed with Berger’s new 190gr LR Target Hybrid bullet (see below), the Lapua 7mm PRC could become a top choice for F-Open shooters.
One other cool new product coming soon is a high-BC 144gr 6.5mm Max Range Target Bullet. This .264 caliber bullet offers great 0.670 G1 and 0.335 G7 Ballistic Coefficients making it one of the highest-BC 6.5mm bullets ever crafted. The new Max RT 6.5mm bullet will be available for consumers in spring 2025.
New CZ Shadow 2 Target Pistol — Great for Gun Games
In this video GunsAmerica Digest Editor True Pearce reviews the impressive new CZ Shadow 2 Target pistol. This 9mm pistol features an extended slide, 6-inch polished and hand-fitted barrel, full steel frame, and handsome ergonomic grip. This pistol also boasts a very crisp trigger that can adjust to five positions.
The regular Shadow 2 has won many IPSC world championships. And this new Shadow 2 Target model should be even better. The 6″ barrel and long slide offer significantly reduced muzzle lift for faster follow-up shots plus longer sight radius for more precise aiming.
Berger Offers New 7mm 190gr LR Hybrid Target Bullets
Here’s big news for F-Open shooters running 7mm cartridges in F-Class competition. Berger will be offering a new, ultra-high BC bullet that could enhance scores. The new 190gr Long Range Hybrid Target projectile offers a higher Ballistic Coefficient which can translate to a flatter trajectory and greater resistance to deflection by crosswinds. In this Ultimate Reloader video F-Class John compares the new Berger 190gr LR Hybrids with Berger’s popular 180gr hybrids. John examines the 190-grainer’s ballistic advantages and demonstrates how thee 190s perform on the range, after load development and seating depth testing.
Innovative SG Sight Pro “Smart” Shooting Glasses Have Heads-up Display of Shot Time, Split Time, and Shot Count
Here’s a great new product for folks who participate in “on the clock” shooting competitions. SG Sight Pro offers innovative new safety eyewear with an onboard “heads up” display. This projects key info in the top left corner of the left lens so the shooter can see shot times and splits. It would be cool if a company could provide a product like this for High Power and F-Class shooters that would show the e-Target score after each shot without moving one’s head position.
Olympic Biathlete Twins Talk with Living Legend Jerry Miculek
In this video talented twins and Olympic Biathletes Lanny and Tracy Barnes visit the Mossberg booth and get trigger tips from legendary shooter Jerry Miculek starting at 1:30 time-mark. The twins also check out Mossberg long guns in the video, including the new Mossberg 590R shotgun and 590RM with a 10-rd detachable shotshell magazine.

Vudoo V22 Ravage with a fluted 18″ Kukri barrel in an Urban Camo Grayboe Ridgeback stock.
Rimfire precision shooting is hot. NRL22 and PRS Rimfire are some of the fastest-growing shooting disciplines in the USA. The NRL now runs 7-8 times as many rimfire matches as centerfire matches these days. The popularity of rimfire precision shooting is easy to understand — .22 LR ammo is a small fraction of the cost of handloaded centerfire ammunition and you can have a fun competition at any local range that goes out to 200 yards or so.
If you’re looking for a top-tier .22 LR precision bolt-action rifle, here is a very impressive option…
Vudoo Gun Works Ravage Precision .22 LR Rifle
Among the most accurate .22 LR precision rifles you can buy is the mag-fed Vudoo Ravage with Grayboe Ridgeback stock. Popular YouTube gun tester 22Plinkster declared: “It’s a Tack-Driver … this .22 LR Rifle is the most accurate .22 LR bolt-action rimfire rifle I have ever shot in my life.” And he notes that he has shot Anschutz, Lithgow, and other quality rifles.
Firing from a Lead Sled, 22Plinkster starts out at 50 yards, and produced a 0.335″ group at 50 yards using Lapua Midas+ ammunition (4:00 time-mark). Then this session gets really impressive. Continuing with Lapua Midas+ ammo, this Vudoo Ravage produced a sub-half-inch group at 100 yards*. You can watch that Midas+ group form up from 7:20 to 8:25 in the video. Then, with ELEY Tenex ammo, he produced a 0.707″ group (10:30) and an even smaller group (11:55). This complete rifle is available from Vudoo Gun Works for $3230.00 without optics. That a ton of money, but if you compete in the rimfire ELR game, the investment may be worth it, as the exceptional accuracy really makes a difference past 250 yards.
22Plinkster says Vudoo’s Ravage is a top choice for NRL22/PRS rimfire matches and Rimfire ELR competitions: “This is the cream of the crop. [Many] people who are winning PRS rimfire matches are shooting Vudoos. What sets this rifle apart from a lot of the other Match 22 rifles is what it does past 300 yards. A lot of rifles — Anschutz, Lithgow, CZ — shoot really good out to 300 yards. But after 300 yards, their accuracy diminishes big-time.”
If you are interested in getting a Vudoo rimfire rifle, then definitely watch this 20-minute Guns & Tactics video. It provides extensive accuracy testing for multiple ammo types with verified group sizes. Then the reviewer shows the working details of the rifle, including the bolt, trigger system, and magazine. The video also includes field testing from bipod as well as competition-type practical stages out to nearly 400 yards.

On Day 2 of SHOT Show 2025 (Wednesday), six state governors attended a notable Forum. As you might expect, ALL the governors were Republicans from “Red” states. Topics included Second Amendment rights, the importance of the firearm industry, the legislative landscape, how and why special interests threatening the firearm and ammunition industry, and how states can help sustain Second Amendment rights. We commend these state leaders for attending SHOT Show and showing concern for the interests of shooters and hunters. We hope that more Governors, including Florida’s Re DeSantis, will attend next year. And perhaps even President Trump may even head to Las Vegas in 2026.
Present at the 2025 NSSF Governors’ Forum are (in alphabetical order of states):
➣ Idaho – Governor Brad Little (Republican)
➣ Montana – Governor Greg Gianforte (Republican)
➣ Nebraska – Governor Jim Pillen (Republican)
➣ Nevada – Governor Joe Lombardo (Republican)
➣ Oklahoma – Governor Kevin Stitt (Republican)
➣ Wyoming – Governor Mark Gordon (Republican)
Forum with State Attorneys General
Along with the Governors’ Forum there was also a moderated Forum with several Attorneys General of U.S. states. This 2nd Annual State Attorneys General Forum covered legal developments to protect Second Amendment rights and the firearm industry from antigun “lawfare” attacks. The forum focused on ongoing legal battles, legal questions, and the amicus briefs these attorneys general submitted opposing threats to the Second Amendment. Members also discussed dealing with the anti-gun policies pushed by the Biden administration, and the never-ending battle against politically-driven attacks on the firearm industry and Second Amendment rights.
Attorneys General Attending the Forum included (in alphabetical order of states):
Georgia – Attorney General Chris Carr
Kansas – Attorney General Kris Kobach
Missouri – Attorney General Andrew Bailey
Montana – Attorney General Austin Knudsen
Ohio – Attorney General Dave Yost
West Virginia – Attorney General J.B. McCuskey
“The firearm industry and gun owners have true courtroom champions in these attorneys general. They are the vanguard [who fought] four years of attacks by the Biden-Harris administration against our industry and our Second Amendment rights”, said Lawrence Keane, NSSF Sr. VP & General Counsel. These attorneys general, the leading law enforcement officials in their states, fight back against the wave of “lawfare” brought by gun control groups that weaponize courts against American civil liberties.

At SHOT Show 2025, SIG Sauer unveiled the Spear DMR, a 6.5 Creedmoor Designated Marksman Rifle with 20″ barrel and fully adjustable, folding stock. In its product review, GunsAmerica notes: “The SIG Spear DMR features a fully adjustable and folding stock… nearly identical to the SIG Cross rifle stock, this version utilizes a different angled mount while maintaining the same ultra-light construction. The stock includes precision adjustments for both the cheek riser and length of pull[.] Its folding design … makes the rifle more compact for discreet transport or storage without compromising functionality or ergonomics.”

It’s Day 2 of the 2025 SHOT Show. Hundreds of new handguns are on display at vendor’s booths in Las Vegas. Today we feature notable new (or updated) handguns from Smith & Wesson, Colt, Glock, and KelTec. If we were shooting action pistol competitions we would definitely consider the new metal-framed S&W M&P9. And the KelTec 5.7 offers impressive fire-power in a very slim and lightweight package.
Smith & Wesson M&P9 Metal HD – Spec Series V
If you shoot gun games such as the USPSA matches, you want a high-mass pistol with a fast cycling and low muzzle lift for quick follow shots. That can be achieved with a ported barrel and an all-metal frame. Smith & Wesson has emplyed this design with its new M&P9 Metal HD – Spec Series V. This 9mm striker-fired pistol has a 23-round capacity, and utilizes a newly designed aluminum trigger to facilitate more consistent and accurate shooting.
Weighing in at 2.31 lbs. (without magazine), the M&P9 Metal HD features a steel frame with enhanced texturing, a steel magwell, and a steel optics plate. All that steel increases overall weight and help reduce felt recoil. Its 4.8-inch threaded barrel, controls, and magwell all display a sharp blue PVD finish, and it is equipped with a Strike Industries™ compensator to tame muzzle rise and improve control.
“Our polymer M&P handguns [are] recognized for their ergonomics and reliability. We took these trusted attributes and integrated them into a steel platform to help mitigate felt-coil, allowing users to keep their pistol running flat and fast. This new Spec Series offers an advantage in today’s dynamic shooting environments while delivering a premium look and feel”, noted Corey Beaudreau, S&W Product Manager.
The M&P9 Metal HD ships with tall C.O.R.E.™ green night sights and also includes an optics-ready slide that can fit red dot optic. Additional features include three 23-round magazines, a Spec Series Coin and Knife, and a hard carry case. CLICK HERE to view more info and photos for the M&P9 Metal HD – Spec Series V.
The KelTec PR57 is a slim, high-capacity lightweight pistol chambered for the potent 5.7x28mm cartridge. This innovative handgun employs an innovative top-loading design, eliminating the need for traditional magazines. The KelTec PR57 internal 20-rd magazine is fed via 10-round stripper clips (see photo at right). Weighing just 13.86 oz (393 g), the PR57 is very light and thin. With a 4.64″ barrel, is is 7.16″ long, and just 0.937″ wide — 40% thinner that other 5.7×28 pistols.
The PR57 features a rotary (spinning) 1:7″-twist barrel and a crisp 4.5 lb trigger pull. Kel-Tec says the 13.86-ounce PR57 is the lightest pistol in its caliber on the market. By comparison, the FN Five-Seven MRD, PSA 5.7 Rock, and Ruger 57 all weigh 25 ounces, nearly twice as much. In addition to black, the PR57 will be offered in FDE and olive drab. The KelTec PR57 ships with two 10-round stripper clips and an optics plate, with an MSRP of $399. The pistol is expected to begin shipping sometime in the first quarter of 2025.
NOTE: There is a major negative — UNLOADING the pistol is not as simple or fast as simply removing a detachable magazine from the bottom of the grip. This PR57 does NOT have a detachable magazine.
Glock Pistols with Integral Aimpoint COA Red Dot Optic
Glock has partnered with Aimpoint to introduce the exclusive Glock x Aimpoint COA Combo. This package features an Aimpoint COA red dot sight pre-installed on Glock 9mm pistols — G43X, G48, G19 Gen5, G45, and G47. The Aimpoint COA optic i fitted to the slide via an A-CUT interface. The Aimpoint COA optic is optimized for concealed carry, offering a compact, lightweight design with a fully enclosed emitter for protection against environmental elements. The A-CUT mounting system allows the sight to be mounted deeper into the slide.

Do you occasionally get completely unexplained flyers, or have a shot land straight down at 6 O’Clock, right below your point of aim? That could be caused by poor or inconsistent trigger technique. How you pull the trigger can and does affect your accuracy.
Many gun enthusiasts start with pistols. When they later start shooting rifles they may carry over some not-so-good practices acquired from shooting handguns with heavy 4 to 6-pound trigger pulls. You may want to “re-learn” your trigger techniques to get better rifle results.
Shooting Sports USA has a good article on trigger technique that offers many useful tips. That article also has many helpful illustrations, including the one shown above. Another illustration shows different types of trigger shoes (straight vs. curved) and explains how each makes a difference: “With a lightly curved trigger, the shooter’s finger can contact the trigger either high or low according to preference. Higher contact will increase the resistance.” READ ARTICLE HERE.
The article analyzes common errors, such as pulling the trigger with the very tip of the finger rather than the pad of the index finger: “Using the tip of the finger can lead to lateral pressure on the trigger, which throws off the shot.”
The article also explains that you should check your trigger regularly to make sure it is functioning properly and is not out of adjustment: “Just like any other moving part, the trigger can suffer from wear. In such a precise mechanism, tiny amounts of wear can cause major problems.”
The ergonomics of the Eliseo Tubegun allow a nice, straight trigger pull.
Trigger Tips
Six Suggestions for Making your Trigger Control More Consistent.
1. If your triggers are adjustable, set the pull weight appropriate to the discipline. For a hunting rifle, you don’t want an ultra-light trigger pull. For High Power, you may want a two-stage pull, while on a Benchrest rifle you may prefer a very light trigger.
2. If you have a two-stage trigger, experiment with different combinations of First Stage and Second Stage.
3. Have a friend watch you as you pull the trigger, and maybe even take a close-up video as you pull the trigger. This can reveal a variety of flaws.
4. Practice dry-firing to see if flaws in trigger technique are causing gun movement.
5. As an experiment, try pulling the trigger with your middle finger. Ergonomically, the middle finger has a more straight alignment with the tendons in your hand. This exercise can help you identify alignment issues with your index finger.
6. For stocks with adjustable Length of Pull you may want to set the LOP differently for bench shooting vs. prone or F-Class shooting.
When Only the Best Will Do…
German-made Bix’N Andy triggers, available from BulletCentral.com, are among the very best you can buy. Available in both single-stage and two-stage, Bix’N Andy triggers are extremely precise, repeatable and smooth. The unique internal, friction-reducing roller ball system allows for extremely low reset force, yielding an ultra-crisp let-off. Bix’N Andy triggers can be fitted with a variety of trigger shoes according to shooter preference.
Bix’N Andy triggers are available for a variety of actions and there are models for various competition disciplines. These triggers start at about $260.00. We like the single-stage for benchrest rifles and the two-stage for Palma rifles and hard-hold competition disciplines.

Ever wondered how the parts inside an AR15 work together? Just exactly how does the reciprocating bolt carrier feed rounds from the magazine? How do the elements in the trigger group work and reset after each shot? How does the gas system bleed gas from the barrel and operate the bolt carrier? These and other questions are answered in this eye-opening video from 45Snipers. Using “cutaway” 3D computer animation, this 5-minute video shows all features of an AR15 inside and out. This fascinating firearms animation allows the viewer to look inside the upper and lower receivers, into the bolt carrier, chamber, barrel, and magazine.
This video starts off slow and has annoying background music, but it is well worth watching if you own or shoot any AR-platform rifle. It illustrates all the key operations during the charging, loading, firing, and ejection processes. The cutaway animation shows how rounds are stripped from the magazine and then chambered. It then shows how every part of the trigger group works, and how the firing pin strikes the primer. You can even watch the bullet move down the barrel before the empty shell casing is removed from the chamber and tossed out the ejection port. Here are sample frames from the video:

Industry Day at the Range is a unique event. Gun industry representatives are able to view, inspect, and shoot scores of new rifles, shotguns, and pistols provided by 200+ manufacturers from around the globe. In addition, new optics and shooting accessories are on display. Hundreds of media members and other gun industry personnel visited the Boulder City, Nevada gun range on 1/20/25 to test a wide variety of new firearms. There were many notable, innovative new rifles, pistols, and optics on display.
Conditions were pretty challenging, with gusty winds and cool temperatures in the mid-40s in the morning. Still most of the shooting was at targets inside 50 yards so those breezes didn’t stop the show. It did make it more challenging to hit the longer range targets set up on the upper rifle bay. Still, media members were excited to see the scores of new rifles, pistols, and shotguns on display. See Range Day Map.
Notable New Guns and Products Previewed at Range Day
Tikka T3X Ace Precision Rifle
Tikka unveiled the new T3X Ace at an early preview at the Desert Sportsman’s Club range outside Las Vegas. Burris XTR PS Scope with Internal Ballistics Display
The new Burris XTS PS scope combines traditional glass lenses with an internal electronic display that shows hold-over and ballistic data to the shooter. Customizable “data zones” display dial-to-distance, wind hold, wind speed/direction, density altitude, angle compensation, and scope level. The scope features a unique new clickless turret with a digital position sensor for ultra-fast 1/30 MIL elevation adjustments.
BioFire Biometric Smart Gun (Fingerprint and Face Recognition)
In this video, GunsAmerica Editor True Pearce tests the radically innovative Biofire “Smart Gun”. This features a biometric fingerprint sensor plus an onboard facial recognition system that scans the shooter’s face. The purpose of the technology is to prevent unauthorized use of the pistol. The potential downside is that anti-Second Amendment politicians might try to mandate this kind of built-in gun control.

6. Amazon — Plano AW2 All Weather Rifle Case Sale, $170.72
⏺️ Excellent wheeled case big enough for F-Class and Palma rifles
Traveling with a long gun requires a quality case that protects your valuable firearm. If you’re in need of a new case for your next hunting or match trip check out the 52″ Plano All Weather Rifle/Shotgun Case (#ad). With a 52″ internal length, this is long enough for most F-Class, PRS, Palma, and Benchrest rifles. You can also fit two hunting rifles inside (see photo). This all-weather case is strong, tough, and seals out moisture. With a Durashell Plus outer shell, this case is relatively lightweight yet durable. If you don’t need a 52″ case, Plano also offers 36″-long and 42″-long cases capable of carrying two rifles or shotguns.
7. Amazon — Frankford Arsenal Folding Reloading Stand, $178.49
⏺️ Folding stand holds reloading press and equipment
For anyone who’s tight on reloading space the Frankford Arsenal Platinum Series Reloading Stand (#ad) might just be the answer. Able to handle a press and a powder measure at the same time, this highly adaptable bench also features collapsible shelves that create more space and tuck away for easy storage. Whether you are doing a quick reload, or simply need something that takes up a little less space, this reloading table is perfect for you.
8. Amazon — Hornady Rapid Night Clock Gun Safe, $242.80
⏺️ Handy pistol safe that appears to be nightstand alarm clock
Here’s a good, readily-accessible handgun storage solution. The Hornady Rapid Safe Night Guard (#ad) stores a handgun in a housing that does NOT look like a gun safe. Disguised to look like an alarm clock, this unit uses RFID technology to unlock instantly — faster than a keypad type system. Four included RFID tags can be selectively programmed to open this safe and any other RFID gun safe you own.
9. Scheels — RCBS Universal Priming Tool, $64.99
⏺️ Recommended tool that adapts to multiple case rim sizes
The RCBS Universal Hand Primer tool can handle both large rim and small rim cases without any parts change. Leverage is good and the primer feeding tray is very reliable. This is a recommended tool for both beginning handloaders and expert-level reloaders. Another good feature of this tool is a patented safety gate that isolates the primer seating operation from the primer supply, lowering risk of tray detonation.
10. Amazon — Deyace Extra Large Shooting Mat, $37.99
⏺️ Nice, relatively big shooting mat with good padding
When shooting prone, you need a good shooting mat. The Deyace Extra Large padded shooting mat (#ad) is a great value for just $37.99. Measuring a generous 78″x28.5″, this XL mat has nice padding for elbows and knees, and the mat folds up nicely for transport. This mat is offered in four colors: Green, Tan, Tan Camo, and Black. For transport, we like this mat’s integral straps and carry handle.

SHOT Show 2025 kicks off on Monday, January 20, 2025 with Industry Day at the Range. We’ll have friends there at the Boulder City Range testing new rifles and pistols, and checking out new optics and accessories. Then on Tuesday, January 22nd, the doors open at the Venetian Expo and Caesars Forum. Over 2700 companies will be exhibiting products this year, with booths and displays covering over 800,000 square feet of floor space. Show organizers expect over 50,000 attendees.
SHOT Show is restricted to industry professionals — manufacturer personnel, buyers/sellers of products, and media representatives. But thankfully, there will be lots of coverage from the event. We’ll be providing regular updates through our Daily Bulletin. In addition, we’ll be following SHOT Show coverage from leading gun-related YouTube Channels, including BackFire, Guns America Digest, The Firearm Blog (TFB-TV), RECOIL Magazine, and Ultimate Reloader.
