SHOT Show: Help Us Provide Feedback to Manufacturers
SHOT Show in Orlando, Florida commences Thursday, Jan. 15th at 08:30 am. AccurateShooter.com will be covering the show, including the preliminary Media Day-at-the-Range on Wednesday the 14th. Our correspondent at SHOT 2009 will be Jason Baney, aided by his wife (who’ll help with cameras and computer stuff).
Jason heads to the show armed with a long list of things to do, from product evaluations to interviews with folks like Jochen Anschütz, David Tubb (Superior Shooting Systems), and Dave Kiff (Pacific Tool & Gauge). We plan to have a look at some new custom actions to be released in 2009, plus the latest optics from Bushnell, Leica, Leupold, March, Premier, Schmidt & Bender, Sightron, Swarovski, and Zeiss.
Help Us Share Your Ideas with Industry Big Shots
Jason will be talking directly to important shooting industry decision-makers and product designers. We would like to share ideas and product feedback from our readership. What do YOU have to say to the guys who build the products you buy?
What would you like us to tell shooting industry professionals representing Hornady, Lapua, Leupold, RCBS, Savage, Sierra Bullets, and other companies? Do you have specific product questions you’d like us to get answered at SHOT Show? You can post your suggestions as a comment to this thread. Or, you can email Jason directly at JB1000BR [at] Yahoo.com.
• Do you have a particular product you want to see covered?
• Do you have suggestions about new products? (For example, what new cartridge would you like to see Lapua produce?)
• Are there questions you’d like to ask manufacturers such as Sierra Bullets, Hornady Mfg., and Hodgdon Powder?
• Do you have feedback on current products and product options? (For example, we know our readers love the new Sightron 30mm scopes, but they want more reticle choices.)
Post your ideas by clicking the “Comments” link at right. >>>>>>>

I would like to see longer pointed bullets for large cal. single shot rifles .429, .458. I would like to see .22 rimfire cartridges loaded with 25-30 grn jacketed bullets similar to .17 M2. Thanks for the for the forum.
6.5×284 factory rifle. I’m amazed that no one will chamber a sproter rifle for this cartridge, especially now that there is tons of brass for it.
Last year at the Shot Show, I spoke to The Big Shot (I forget his name)from Sako about this. He couldn’t think of a reason not to. Still he was luke warm to the idea.
I am shooting a 6mm WOA AR-15 in XTC matches. I shoot Sierra 107 at the 600 yard line. I need a 90 gr HPBT non VLD for 200 and 300 yards. These need to be magazine length. The VLD’s will not jump that far. I’m shooting Sierra 70’s at 200 and Hornady 87’s at 300. I’ve tried Bergers but they didn’t shoot well at 300 yards.
I would like to see Lapua design a cartridge with the efficiency of the 6mm BR and the ability to throw large 30 caliber bullets 1000 yards accurately…
We will be chambering barrels with the gunsmith lathe at the Grizzly booth. Have Jason speak to Gordy Gritters, famous benchrest gunsmith, who will be on site chambering my .284 barrels.
Our booth is in the directory.
Thanks,
Shiraz.
Berger makes great VLD 1000 yard bullets. Ask Tom Hime if they can finish the job for us by pointing them.
Henry
I would love to see more products available in Canada. Of particular note, I’d love to be able to purchase a Savage AccuStock here in Canada.
I’d love to see more companies, like Brownells and Sinclair, take orders from and ship parts, tools and other non-restricted items to customers here in Canada.
Cheers,
Marcel
Like to see the following:
1. An action ring allowing barrel mounting without threading the barrel (for indexing).
2. A Leupold Mk4 with the following:
A glass etched reticle incorporating a split-focus ring. With this, and a micrometer style(calibrated) sidefocus, laser rangefinders would no longer be needed. If they added a second pendulum reticle, an external level would not be needed.
I would also like to see a 1/8moa click option and medium-fine crosshair option.
3. A heavy, high ogive, flat base 24cal bullet. Something like a 105FB.
4. A binocular Leica 1200LRF.
5. An 32x NXS without the turning eyepiece, without the lit reticle, a pound lighter, and threaded to accept Leupold’s Alumina flip-up covers.
6. I’d like to see special run factory guns built, tested, and offered at a price appropriate for their actual performance potential. I would think Savage could do this easily.
I would like to see Lapua offer 260 brass!!!!!
IF… savage arms chambered their classic or hunter series
for 6.5-.284…I WOULD BUY ONE.
I mean it makes a TON of sense, right?
accutrigger, accustock, detachable mag, good action
They have the reamers… So why not?
BTW great website, thanks for all your hard work.
A message for the folks at Savage Arms:
I really like your Model 12 LRPV rifle in the 6br Norma with the 4 shot box magazine, but why do you only offer it in a 1×12 twist?
Consider this, you call this a “long range” rifle, but do not offer a 1×8 twist in this(6br Norma)model that would stabilize the immensely popular 105-108 grain bullets which are specifically designed for…yes–long range! This should not be a big deal for you guys, since you are now (2009) offering the 6br LRPV in a single shot 1×8 twist.
If you do make this change for the better, please let me know, as I would like to be the first one in line to buy one.
I still think Remington is missing the boat by not offering a 700VS in .260.There is certainly alot of interest in a gun like this.Give the factory reps a headslap from me Jason. Jeff
Also ask Sierra to do do our work by pointing the meplats on SMK’s
Thanks, Jack
I would like to see Leupold make a AO adjustable only scope with no elevation or windage adjustments and an external adjuctable scope mount to with it. This scope in 40, 45, and 50 power could eventually replace their competition benchrest scope line.
Also from Sierra, I would like a 30 caliber, 135gr, flat base target bullet similar to their Match King bullet but without the boat tail.
Thanks for the opportunity…virg.
Leupold – Low profile elevation turret available on 6×36, 6×42, 3.5×10 scopes. Similar to an M3, rather than an M1. A mildot reticle would be nice too.
I would like to see Sierra update more of the Matchking designs similar to what they did with the new Palma 155 bullet. I would also like to see an 85 grain non-VLD .224 bullet for 600 yd. Service Rifle competition.
Berger, a new 115 gr. tangent ogive 6mm bullet (thick jacket)would be great for 1000 yd. matches.
Lapua, a cartridge similar to the .243 BR-K or 6mm SuperX would be great for long range shooting.
Remington to make available their actions again.
1. Lapua 260 Remington Brass
2. Badger Ord LA with LAPUA Bolt Face
3. US OPTICS 8×32 SN3 to replace NF NXS 8×32
I’d like to see Nosler bring out a 90gn 6mm/.243 Accubond.
I’d also like to see federal offer its 95gn 6mm/.243 Fusion bullets to reloaders.
Could you ask Jochen Anschütz why they dont chamber their rifles in 204 Ruger or 17 fireball? At least bring back the 222 Remington.
I would like to see remington bring back there XP100,single shot pistol..
I would like to see Sightron bring out a pistol scope in at least a 4-16 power
I would like to see someone in the USA bring out a GOOD quality 22 rimfire rifle, with adj trigger, threaded action, recoil lug, locking lugs other than the bolt handle, that is half way reasonable priced….
And last but not least,,I would like to see Unertl offer to the public their BV-20 scope again…
Will Oehler ever offer another 35p.
I would like to see either rem., savage or cz with a left hand 6.5 -55 – medium caliber hunting rifles..rem.to offer a rifle to compete w/ savages ldpv..say in 6mmppc usa…Federal offer a 22 lr. target ammo to compete w/ eley & lapua
I would like to see .30BR brass from Lapua. There are countries where the laws/authorities demands that the brass must stamp the actual caliber of the gun.
An Anschutz 64 action .22LR rifle with a “position” stock with adjustable cheekpiece and buttplate, much like the 1907 “beginer” model and with a barrel with groves for sights. All with a reasonable price of about U$800,00. Repeater and single shot.
Can we get the bullet makers to give us standardized, accurate B.C.’s?
Maybe its impossible, due to the
cavity dimensions necessary for desired expansion but…
How about a high BC monolithic expanding
hollowpoint (or delrin tipped) VLD type hunting bullet.
Barnes bullets perform great, but the only two bullets they make with a BC above .500 is a 225g .338 TSX (.547) and a 647g .50 TSX (.572).
Wow thats HALF the BC of a .50 AMAX!
i would like sierra to upgrade their 240 match king dies with a smaller diameter than current bullets,to the same specs. as 1996 -97 bullets.
When is Schmidt & Bender releasing their 12-50 PM II scope to the U.S. market?
I would like to see Burris offer their excellent posi-align signature rings (30mm and 1″) for pictanny rails.
I would like to see savage offer their 12LRPV in 223 1-7 twist,w/their better trigger and very heavy barrel in a repeater that would accept ar15 magazines. Also would like it in the new accustock or hs precision stock with anschutz rail, adjustable comb and LOP.Also 20moa scope rail in weaver configuration.
I would like swarovski to offer their 8×30 laser guide with arc compensation
With all of the new wildcat cartridges based on the BR case I would like Lapua to step up production of the 6br case. recently we have shortages.
I would like to hear from the cartridge component manufacturers when they plan to cut their prices back.
When we took the price increases over the last two years, we were told that this all had to do with the increased cost of raw materials. Well, the raw material costs have plummeted over the last few months yet I’m hearing talk of yet another round of price hikes.
What gives?
Savage Arms: I’m considering a new Savage 11FCNS (Accutrigger & Accustock) in .243 Win but the Savage website does not provide ‘stock dimensions’ such as length of pull (I have an injured arm) or stock detail such as checkering/no checkering, butt-plate type, etc.?????
The retailer, with one in inventory, is about 150 miles from here so a lot of faith & research is required up front.
